About Debbie Schaefer
Debbie has lived her whole life in the Thousand Islands, and is very familiar with the area and the market. She has been selling real estate since 1991, and opened her own office in April of 2006. She loves working with people and gets a great deal of satisfaction out helping people meet their real estate needs. She puts her clients first, and believes in treating everyone fairly and honestly. She says "I try to put myself in the client or customers shoes. I expect my agents to do the same." Debbie and her husband, Jerry, own the Ledges Motel and Marina, and she is familiar with the commercial climate in Alexandria Bay, as well as the economic climate for the local people. She holds the GRI designation from the Greater Realtor Institue, and is a CBR (Certified Buyer Representative). She has a degree in secondary education in English and German, and speaks German. She loves gardening, animals, music, and the St. Lawrence River. She raised Arabians for many years and showed dogs at one time. She still has horses and shows and raises dogs vicariously through her sister and daughter. She belongs to the local chambers, the Greater Watertown North Country Chamber of Commerce, the Alexandria Bay Chamber, and the Orleans Business Association and is on the board of the Alexandria Community Thrift Store, run by the local Council of Churches. Debbie specializes in residential properties, whether they be waterfront homes on the mighty St. Lawrence, or modest homes in the surrounding areas. She is located only 25 minutes from Fort Drum, and is happy to work with military buyers and sellers. She works closely with the local lenders and mortgage brokers and can help you choose the best lender for you financing needs. As she has had horses for many years, she understands the needs of people looking for properties where they can keep livestock. She can help hunters, and recreational land buyers find properties to meet their needs as well. Debbie is familiar with the cultural, historical, and economic aspects of the area, and is happy to help you learn about the area, to help you make the best decisions for yourself and your family.
