- Description
- A very "patient Realtor" working in the Naperville area. I like houses, always have. I have a good eye for what works in a home & what to stay away from - since you might ask me to resell your home.
Getting to know me:
I just turned 54 this last month and of course still think I'm 34. Went skiing at Taos in New Mexico this last March with my oldest daughter and this brought back some memories. I lived in Santa Fe in the early 70's, things have changed in that Real Estate market. Unfortunately I can't ski Al's Run any more, but neither can my daughter, so it's OK.
I've been in sales since I was a kid selling Christmas cards for points. I sold Fuller Brush while I was in College in Oregon - go Ducks. I spent a number of years selling printing for a now defunct family Printer in Elk Grove - we printed a lot of the Junk Mail most people hate.
I've been in the Naperville area for the last 15 years and have lived most of my life on and off in the Chicago area. I've traveled in every state except Alaska and Hawaii - I love to drive.
My wife and I travel all over the country and some how keep ending back here in Naperville and the Chicago area. Can't beat the food - not to many places can compete.
Someone said I needed to put my Real Estate Web site in here so: JayShepherdTeam.com here it is for all to see.
Areas of Expertise
I specialize in helping people find what they like in their new home. I've shown, sold and listed a lot of house in the last 6 years and only have a few regrets with how things turned out. This might sound simple, but I don't want my clients buying something that I know will be a Re-sale problem in the future. Fresh paint and carpet with a cookies and cream appearance might look good on the outside, but dig a little deeper and you might find a little surprise - buyer beware.
I have been fortunate in being able to help families move in from all over the country and the World. I think South Africa was the furthest any of my clients have come to buy a home. I have even helped families move from one part of Naperville to another and in from Chicago - so I'm not limited or narrow-minded.
Since I have worked with so many buyers over the years I have a keen sense in what it takes to get a house sold. You need a marketing plan that shows the house in as many different lights as possible. Before getting into the Real Estate businesss I partnered with two others in a Web design and marketing company. I know how to get a home noticed on the Internet. I also have had the opportunity to be around a number of really great Realtors over the years - there is a reason you see so many RE/MAX signs in the front lawns of Naperville.

Testimonials
"Thanks Jay for selling our house in Plainfield, I know it wasn't the best house you ever sold, but you made us feel like it was." Rick & Heather.
Bill Keith wrote: "Jay was the 4th Realtor to try and sell my home - he did! Jay and his wife went out of their way to help me get the house in order to sell. The neighbors couldn't believe it was the same house. The previous Realtor put up a sign, and I didn't hear from him until the listing expired".
"Hey Jay you made it possible for us to move to Las Vegas without too much of a hassle. Come out and sit by the pool next time your out for a seminar"
Brooke and Jeannie Boarder
Had some extra time tonight, so I thought I would write some comments about your performance. Use as you see fit....
We came across Jay Shepherd through his website during our relocation to Naperville from Detroit. My family's first visit to check out the area was successful due to the efforts that Jay put in. With very short notice he rearranged his schedule to fit the short amount of time we had to check out the area, and to get a feel for home prices. He went out of his way to make sure we understood where we were looking, and what our price range would buy.
Based on our criteria, and sometimes very specific requirements, Jay continually monitored the current and new listings for our targeted area. Each time we went looking at houses, he put together a package for us to review and to take notes with. He was very knowledgeable about what to look for in the various neighborhoods, and what to watch out for.
He made a difficult and sometimes overwhelming process quite easy. Jay made our family feel comfortable and we were able to purchase a home that we felt confidant was a good buy. Due to Jay's efforts we were able to find, purchase, and move into our home from out of state in less than 6 weeks.
By far, Jay exceeded our expectations. I would recommend Jay to anyone looking to sell or purchase a home.
Tim Hicks
"My husband and I never really trusted Realtors. Jay was real straight with us about what it would take to sell our house. His Internet and Hotline seemed to bring in more buyers than the last guy and he got the house sold".
