Areas of Expertise

Sutter County and Yuba County are sister counties located in north central California, separated only by the Feather River.  The County seat of Sutter County is the City of Yuba City and the County seat of Yuba County is Marysville.  The entire Yuba Sutter region consists of the following:

Arbuckle, Bangor, Biggs, Browns Valley, Challenge, Clipper Mills, Colusa (Colusa County), Dobbins, Grass Flat, Gridley, Linda, Live Oak, Loma Rica, Marysville, Olivehurst, Oregon House, Oroville (Butte County), Smartville, Sutter Wheatland, Williams, and Yuba City

The southern part of each county is about 15 minutes north of Sacramento, the California state capitol. Sacramento International Airport is located approximately 40 minutes from Yuba City or Marysville.  Both Yuba County and Sutter County offer their residents the many advantages of a rural lifestyle, away from the pressures of the urban areas.  The rivers, lakes and outdoor recreation areas provide excellent hunting, fishing, boating and skiing opportunities.

The counties are a short drive from the Interstate 80 and 5 corridors and are served by State Highways 20 and 99. They have a varied geography, including the confluence of the Feather, Yuba and Bear rivers, wooded mountains, streams, lakes and agricultural croplands that vary from orchards to vineyards. Elevations range from 20 feet above sea level to nearly 4,820 feet in the northern parts of the region.

 

The Capitol Region provides Yuba Sutter with a skilled labor force and affordable housing options.  Both Sutter County and Yuba County offer excellent quality of life opportunities. There are good schools in nearby communities, low crime rate, seismic stability, world class outdoor hunting and fishing activities, excellent proximity to golf courses, professional sports venues, theatre, ballet, art galleries and fine dining. Located in and near Yuba Sutter are top-notch medical facilities including a highly touted teaching hospital.

 

Sutter County is perhaps most renowned for being home to the smallest mountain range in the world, the Sutter Buttes. 

Sutter County is proud of its agricultural heritage and has the distinction of developing the seedless grape, a product which revolutionized the raisin industry. Another agricultural development in Sutter County was the origination of a hardy, prolific strain of wheat by Edward Proper in 1868.  Sutter County is also known for its rice, walnut, peach, tomato and prune production. In fact, the production of peaches is so great that every year, the Annual Peach Festival takes place in neighboring Yuba County.  Within a one-hour drive radius, residents of Sutter County and Yuba County have access to three state universities, a major metropolitan airport, the State Capitol, and the recreational areas of the Sierra Mountain Range.
