“Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Smith Mountain Lake”?.….yep you’ll thank me later, when you can’t get that song out of your head. But believe it or not, that’s one of the most common questions we get asked….where the heck is it!?
So here you go in a nutshell:
By car: use Mapquest and search for Moneta, VA, [pronounced "Mo-neat-ah"]
Or if you are from the south, you can search for Penhook or Union Hall and you will come across the lake, but it is not the most developed area. Penhook and Union Hall are considered South Lake.
The main area of the lake is known as Westlake comprised of Moneta (Franklin County), Hardy and Wirtz.
Opposite Westlake is Eastlake, comprised of Moneta (Bedford County), and Huddleston.
Sorry to disappoint you, but we do not have a Northlake….
