You Don't Have To Be A "Straight A" Student....To Qualify For A Loan? This morning my husband and I were having coffee (very rare occasion since we work such different schedules) just chit-chatting.  He asked me how things were going with a particular offer on one of my listings.  Unfortunately, my answer was...the buyers are having trouble with their financing.  His response was...that's the trouble these days, you may have plenty of potential buyers, but unless they are "Straight A" Students they can't get a loan.  His analogy made me chuckle.  But after thinking about it I realized, this a BIG misconception that a LOT of people share.  Yes, lending institutions have tightened their belt on their guidelines.  But you don't have to be a Straight A Student to qualify for a loan.  This i...

You might find that horse farm you are looking for right here in The Shoals Area.                                                There are PLENTY of listings in our MLS claiming to be Horse Farms For Sale.  After looking at some of them it got me thinking...what exactly does it require to be called a "Horse Farm"?      Does it require the huge beautiful farm house, with miles and miles of white fencing surrounding the property?  Does it require acres and acres of flat to gently rolling land?  Or is it the fabulous barn with stall after stall to house those beautiful animals?  Well I guess that all depends on which part of the country your from, your financial position and how many horses you have.      I have learned a few things in showing horse properties that I find very interesti...

Sunday, July 31, 2011 Another year of the W.C. Handy Music Festival is winding down. Here is a link to today’s schedule, but it is fairly light.  According to one source I’ve seen, On the Rocks is scheduled to have live music tonight, but I don’t know who is supposed to be playing. I think most people today are at home trying to recover from the week-long area-wide party that just happened! BUT, if you are still trying to find something to do, there are still plenty of other interesting things that don’t require a schedule or planning. Beat the heat at the Splash Pad in River Heritage Park next to the Marriott. Grab a frozen yogurt downtown at Makadoo’s or in Seven Points at Frostbite. (Like both of these businesses on Facebook to find out the daily flavors.) Take a short ride down Hwy ...

Ok, I know its probably wrong, but I have been overcome by the Handy Festival now myself! As the event coordinator for Handy on the Plaza, I just spent my day (starting before 8 am) outside on the Plaza, getting the event set up and making sure the first day ran smooth. I am a little sunburned and a LOT tired! Things went well, though, once it was up and running...looking forward to tomorrow's event (the second day is always easier!). That being said, I am wayyyy past looking for anything else to do today besides Handy events! If you know of something that isn't on the Handy schedule, feel free to post it in the comments. I'll try to get something up for tomorrow, but no guarantees, since I'm going to be out on the Plaza again all day!

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 It seems that Handy Fest has truly taken over the Shoals! I could hardly find any events that aren’t part of the Handy festival. Here’s a link to today’s events. Billy Reid in downtown Florence is having Jay Burgess from 11:30 am – 1 pm today at his downtown store. They also have a display of never before seen photographs by Dick Cooper of various recording artists at FAME and SOUND studios. Pretty cool, huh? Hannah Aldridge is playing at The Trojan House from 7-9 pm in Muscle Shoals.
