Gaetano Faillace was born in New York City, New York back in 1904 to Marcello and Francesca. I have searched the world wide web and could not find anything about his early upbringing/education or other data. What I can tell you is that he joined the United States Army and saw action during WWII. He was a sergeant and a photojournalist. He was assigned to photograph an officer, so he was promoted to captain which was the order of the day, so he could be there when an enlisted man wouldn’t be allowed. After the war, he was demoted to the rank of sergeant, however when he retired in 1963, he retired as a major. He died in 1991, he was 87.While you may not recognize the name you surely will recognize the photos and videos he took as they are engrained into my brain (what’s left of it anyway)....
