Grateful that my dad is well taken care of at 97!I am so happy that my old dad is able to live in his own home in Vancouver, and he has good care and good caregivers.  Since I live on Maui, it's not so easy to just pop in and help out.  He used to spend a lot of time with us here on Maui, but now traveling isn't so easy. The health system in Canada has been great lately when he needed to be hospitalized for a whole month due to problems that are typical for an old man at this stage of his life.  I was up there the whole time and got a good look at the level of care and treatment, and can say I have no complaints.  He was in good hands the whole time, even during surgery.  The best part was... no crippling bill!  Shout out to Mt. St. Joseph Hospital which is part of St. Paul's Hospital - ...

Now you see it, now you don't - hiding in plain sight.  I love how this "box" was camouflaged into the surroundings so it wouldn't have to look ugly.  Taken in Vancouver BC, which is a big city that knows how to put its best face forward.  Every season brings out beautiful colors and textures, and the changing landscape is wonderful to behold.  People in this city really love to garden and they take pride in the surroundings.  Maybe we could all learn something from a simple act such as this. Thanks for reading my Maui blog...Buying or selling real estate on Maui?  That's what I do.  Let me help YOU.Georgie Hunter R(S) e-Pro, Hawai'i Life Real Estate Brokers127 Hana Hwy. #G, Paia HI 96779E-mail or call/text: 808 283-0635

The market for new presales, pre-construction properties, and off plan properties in Vancouver is unique in Canada, North America, and the world. In most cases with presales in Vancouver, by the time members of the general public get access to the display centre, most if not all of the best suites are sold to those with inside access. The good news is that inside access can be had. Vancouver New Condos has long standing relationships in the new condo community that allows our clients access before the general public. We know about projects before anyone else, get information on these presale apartments before anyone else, and our clients get in to purchase before the general public and very often can get early purchase discounts.Vancouver New Condos has information on pretty much every ...

THE POWER OF NOW - "Surrender & Forgiveness" by Eckhart Tolle   "Forgiveness" is a term that has been in use for 2,000 years, but most people have a very limited view of what it means. You cannot truly forgive yourself or others as long as you derive your sense of self from the past. Only through accessing The Power of Now, which is your own power, can there be true forgiveness. This renders the past powerless, and you realize deeply that nothing you ever did or that was ever done to you could touch even in the slightest the radiant essence of who you are. The whole concept of forgiveness then becomes unnecessary.   And how do I get to that point of realization?   When you surrender to what is and so become fully present, the past ceases to have any power. You do not need it anymore....

(EXIT STAGE RIGHT)
From Awkward to Ah ha! Sometimes there's an element in a room that just doesn't make sense to a Home Buyer.  In this downtown Vancouver condo, there was a strange, awkward shelf above the fireplace that made Home Buyers scratch their head. What was the purpose of the shelf?  None, really.  Why was it there?  The architect was feeling creative that day?  What's a Home Buyer to do about it?Forget it - let's just move on to the next property! In order to avoid the Home Buyer from being too perplexed to bother solving the shelf issue, it made sense to bring Exit Stage Right, one of Vancouver's leading home staging companies, to solve this problem.  We staged the shelves... and everything else, to make sense of the room's potential. Here are some before and after photos of how we "shelved" t...

It’s about time we made this idea an actuality, Eco-Friendly paint. For decades we’ve been painting our homes with paint containing harmful toxins putting our loved ones in harm’s way.  According to the EPA, indoor air is three times more polluted than outdoor air. Traditional paints and finishes are among the leading causes for indoor pollution. These paints and finishes release low-level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The solvent used in conventional paints are called Volatile Organic Compounds. VOCs combined with other airborne pollutants create smog. Inside your home, VOCs contribute to unhealthy air, which can then lead to respiratory and metabolicillness, headaches, along a host of disorders. Thankfully paint manufacturers realized the demand for paints ...

FairTradeWorks celebrated its first year of business on August 29th, 2013 in an untraditional way. It only seems fitting since they've been anything but traditional in their approach to new home construction and renovations. The goal of the company from the very beginning has been to change consumer's construction experiences through incredible client care, excellent craftsmanship and fair pricing. They believe they've been able to prove that this winning combination is allowing people to trust in the construction industry again which in turn has inspired people to want to build and/or improve their homes. 1-855-860-(7366) | Vancouver Asbestos and Pop Corn Ceilings - By Advisor Gary Kwong Written by FairTradeWorks Advisor Gary Kwong So, who loves popcorn ceilings? Chances are you probably won’t get too many “yes” votes.  What exactly is wrong with stucco ceilings? Are they dangerous? Or are they simply just a turn off?! Asbestos is one of the main concerns homeowners have about their textured ceilings.  Research shows that most popcorn ceilings can be safely removed for properties built in Canada after 1975.  A client of mine bought in a bungalow in the Vancouver area that was built in the early 70s; tested the popcorn ceiling at a lab and it contained 0.5-5% asbestos in the actual material.  Therefore he hired an abatement company to handle the task properly.  It should cost you about $5...

Wow are we blessed living here, you know this is true when catch yourself taking it for granted while meanwhile an out of town guest is stunned and speechless at the beauty and nature that surrounds Vancouver British Columbia.  Yes I have been seeing this panorama my entire life but as I have travelled further afield I have come to appreciate more and more what we have.  What some people call a view and pay extra for we wouldn't even bat an eyelash at.   This is a scenic waterfront tour of Vancouver harbour, Stanley Park, Lions Gate Bridge, English Bay, West Vancouver on a glorious Summer evening.

Before purchasing a home, it is vital that you have a better understanding of title insurance policies that are available for both lender and homeowner protection. If obtaining a mortgage, title insurance will be a requirement to shelter the lender for the full amount of the loan until it is completely paid off. However, owner title insurance will be something you need to consider if you want to protect your own interests as well, since the aforementioned would not cover your own equitable interests in the property.Typically the purchase of an owner policy can either be covered by the seller, or is something that you can include along with the lender policy for a small investment. When purchasing a home, buyers are actually obtaining a right to occupy the land and property space which co...
