Beverly Hills Cops: The movie 1, 2…and now #4? OK I must admit in 1984 the movie with Eddie Murphy as Axle Foley was great, then came the movie Beverly Hills cops #2. I enjoyed it but was not thrilled by itJ somewhere along the way I missed Beverly Hills Cops #3 and now I hear that Beverly Hills Cops #4 is in the works. Rumor control in the Greater Los Angeles area says, that Jerry Bruckheimer will produce it! WOW not that will make it a must see on my listJ Paramount Studios is finally realizing when you have a winner you must take advantage of it! If you have never seen any of the movies or the classic sign and building enjoyJ    If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach ...

Mastro’s Restaurants: One of the best Steak houses in the country Ok I have eating less and less Steaks, red meat etc. I could go on and on. I must share with you, that I always thought that Mastro’s was a Beverly Hills Restaurant and started to spread to the rest of the country. Well I must admit I was wrongJ Mastro’s Steak Restaurant was actually founded in Scottsdale ArizonaJ and wow long and behold you would not believe this but now they are all over the country: Las Vegas, Newport Beach, Thousand Oaks, Palm Desert, Chicago and Beverly Hills, CA to name a few! Needless to say I have been to the Beverly Hills Restaurant and loved it. Personally I like a bit quieter place so I can enjoy the conversation and the meal. On top of that thanks to being forewarned I bought my own wine inste...

Reflections about what I have learned growing my Real Estate Business I was clicking around and found this contest on Active Rain. The question was raised: ‘What have I learned about growing my business?’ First let me say, what a thought provoking question. Well not wanting to bore any of my readers, never the less, I have to give a bit of history. I started out being a Realtor on the East Coast, in Boston, MA to be specific. That was a hundred years ago when we had a Two Page Purchase Agreement and today the Purchase Agreement with all the Disclosures is thirty pages long. Now I am in Beverly Hills, CA and sixteen plus years in the local market as a Realtor.  My first listing agreement was done over the kitchen table hand written with a “black pen” The latest listing I took two days ag...

The Frye Company: since 1863 in Boston, MA As I was walking on Newbury Street this sign and address caught my attention. I started wondering is it a stock market company? Is it a finance co which co-exists side by side with a newer company, FYI on the other corner is a CVS Store? This is of course on the corner of Gloucester St. and Newbury St. Needless to say I was busy with many other issues and did not have time to research it until I returned to Los Angeles. Wow what a surprise: The Frye Company is a Shoe Company. All these years I was not aware. Needless to say next time I will be looking for these shoes. They have to be pretty special to survive for this many years. Well let me give you a quick glimpse of their history. On March 10th, 1863 John A Frye opened s a small shop in Marl...

‘Inferno’ by Dan Brown this book is a great summer read or anytime read!   I just finished reading the book written by Dan Brown of “Da Vinci Code” fame and many others this one was called ‘Inferno’. If you think of the word “Inferno’ what comes to mind? For me, I immediately think of Dante’s Inferno of the Divine Comedy’s fame. If you think the same thing, then you will have a better understanding of this fast passed book.  The book is full of Symbolisms connected to Dante Aligheri’s Inferno/ Divine Comedy, the epic poem and this is blended with current Robert Ludlum- style Bourn Identity action style page turner of a book.   If you have not been to Florence, Italy, then after you read this book you will swear you have been there. If not, than you will have this urge to go as soon as y...

Do you bake or boil your beets? I bake them for a deeper flavor If you are looking to add more flavors to your beet dishes my advice is clear and simple: you must bake them. By boiling them you will take just as long time wise, but  the difference is  most of the flavors will  get boiled out. Next time you are planning on making a beet dish. Try using aluminum foil add a little olive oil and sea salt. Bake for about an hour or longer depending on size of the beets at 325 F. Let it cool so you can handle it and using paper towels remove the outer skin. This will guarantee your beets will be so much more flavorful than if you boiled them. I am very generous when it comes to using paper towels, if you are a bit more frugal get a plastic or rubber gloves and then use fewer paper towels to c...

Spinach, Berries and Avocado Salad from your local Farmer's Market or your favorite Store like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.   As most of you who know me, I am always experimenting and taking recipes from cookbooks and anywhere else I can find new fun and healthy food to try. I came across with one on the internet.   I loved the picture and the ingredients and I could tell this would be an amazing salad.   The Ingredients: Spinach(8-14 oz), Mango (1), Avocado(1), Blackberries (8oz), Raspberries(8oz), Canola Oil(1/4cup-1/2 cup), Pine nuts91/4 cup to 1/2cup), Honey(2 table spoons), and then here you can play with depending on taste 2-3 table spoons of (lemon, or white wine vinegar, or orange Champaign vinegar or orange juice) and your level of comfort for citrus.   Key steps: Toast the p...

Check out another easy Swordfish Dinner Recipe by Endre Barath, Jr. !   As most of you who read my blog know, that I love to cook and seafood is often on the dinner menu here in our household in Marina Del Rey, CA. In case you missed my previous recipe on how I make Swordfish I am enclosing a link for your convenience (http://actvra.in/Sdb )   Since we have had a few heat waves, instead of baking the Swordfish, I decided on a stove top version. (Let me know what you think) Keep in mind I hardly use salt & pepper so add that according to your taste! Ingredients:     ·         Olive Oil, garlic, shallots, sweet onions (sauté them in the pan)   ·         Swordfish, mushrooms, tomatoes (brown the Swordfish in the same pan & add the mushrooms)   ·         Remove skin of tomatoes (see phot...

Freedom, isn’t Free: Reflections on Independence Day!   As most of us celebrate Independence Day with Barbecues, having friends and family over playing patriotic music I would like to reflect on the true cost of our Freedom.   These thoughts have been quietly surfacing all over the country. One of my Ranger Brothers Karl Monger, the Founder & Executive Director of GallantFew Inc has sent a Newsletter re-running Deb Boyce’s reflections on Independence Day. If you have not seen it I will provide a link here embedded (it is very good but sad read).   For those who just want a taste of it, I will paraphrase a few of the points here:   Usually on Independence Day people use the statement “Freedom isn’t Free” as a catchphrase. The price is high, not many actually think of what the real cost c...

Living in Marina Del Rey and selling Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area!   Living in Marina Del Rey and selling Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area and having an office in Beverly Hills is clearly a recipe to run into members of the entertainment community.       I was taking Diane’s Father around to show him Beverly Hills and we had the opportunity to run into Melanie Seacat from the Television Show Betty White’s Off Their Rockers! Melanie is one of the Pranksters on the Show. If you have not seen it make sure you check it out.
