Question: So I tried to make an offer on a house through Redfin.com at 14% below asking. The realtor called me and told me that she called the listing agent and was told that the house went into pending. The next day (yesterday) I drove by the house and they were having an open house there!!!! The open house was being held by C21 but the house was listed under Maxim Properties. I told the real estate agent there that I heard the house was in pending and he told me it fell through.
I immediately went back to work and called my redfin agent and told her the news. She called the listing agent, who told her that the house went into escrow that day!!!
So I called the guy who was doing the open house and he played dumb saying he called the listing office and asked if he could do an open house and they told him yes. I asked him to call them and ask if it is in escrow and he told me he would an will call me back. That was yesterday and he did not call me back.
I know that this house was purchased from an investor at auction, but the realtor was telling people it was bank owned. All the open house signs he had pointing to it read 'Bank Owned'.
My personal belief it that the C21 realtor paid the listing agent a small fee just so that he could have an open house to generate potential customers.
All of this seems like false advertising to me.
