Does This Drive You Nuts? By: Jim Minkey (ReMax Today)

Does this wonderful and descriptive picture look familiar to anyone? I'll bet plenty of you have seen it alot! This is what happens when a real estate agent neglects to take any photos of his or her listing...the MLS puts this charming image there. Right now in Foster City there

The Myth of Sisyphus By: Jim Minkey (ReMax Today)

You've probably heard this saga from Greek mythology before. Sisyphus was a King who was punished by the Gods by being made to roll a large boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll down again and having to repeat this throughout eternity. At the end of every year

I'll bet you thought it was extinct! No, not the winged frog above...I'm talking about the multiple offer driven home that closes escrow over the asking price. Believe it or not there are still a few of those around this area. One of them actually closed $125,000 over asking recently!

Unintended Consequences By: Jim Minkey (ReMax Today)

OK, it's time again for a small rant. I signed up for a web based leads system whereby potential buyers and sellers request services from local Realtors. The vast majority of these leads aren't worth the time to respond to. Prospective buyers wanting 5 bedroom houses in Hillsborough for under

For several years it's been a common event in this area for a seller to initiate home inspections (pest inspections too) prior to listing their place on the market. The rationale for that is to avoid any surprises in an escrow, via a buyers home inspection, that could place a

Withdrawing Listings By: Jim Minkey (ReMax Today)

I sure have been hearing alot of comments, both on my blog and elsewhere that expresses the position that our "bubble" here on the Mid Peninsula has burst. Actually there's been some degree of gloating by some folks who have been predicting it for awhile now. My opinion? It's too

Down Payment By: Jim Minkey (ReMax Today)
In the "never a dull moment" world of lending it sure seems like the programs offered, along with the criteria expected, changes every week. In fact, the criteria has gotten signifcantly tighter. Maybe the most significant area among these changes are the minimum down payments lenders are now requiring before they'll

Foster City Market Update By: Lenore Wilkas (Prudential Fine Homes International)
I haven't done a Market Update for Foster City in a while. Foster City is a planned community, in fact it was the first one done in California. What that means is there are areas with Apartments, Condos, Townhouses and Single Family homes sprinkled around the city. Each group of housing
