Originally acquired by James Irvine in the mid 1860s and used as a ranch during his families lives, West Irvine California has grown quickly over the years and advanced from a quiet citrus crop ranch to an area that has become the heart of California. A Great History Over the last 50 years West Irvine's development has continued to rest in the hands of the Irvine Company, a firm that was started by the sons of James Irvine following his death. As the area grew it incorporated in 1971 and has been frequently chosen as one of the best places to live in California. As of 2011 major publications such as Business Week reported that West Irvine ranked number five on the list of best cities to live in the United States. The FBI also recently reported that as of 2010 West Irvine California had the lowest violent crime rate in the U.S. with populations of 100,000 or more. The Sound of Music, From Irvine to New York City
Brian L. Sirota, Esq., For Solutions: (714) 501-7660 (Bristar Realty (Realtor/Attorney))
Photo courtesy of Beckman High School The hills of Irvine are alive with the sound of music. Both the Irvine and Tustin Unified School Districts are renown in Orange County for their top-of-the-line academic programs, though they boast talent beyond the classroom. Beckman High School has its own version of the von Trapps, at least until they graduate.  This family may not sing, but its 67 members have plucked, scraped, and stroked their way to fame.  Becksman's string orchestra will retrace the footsteps of the von Trapps for a fourth time as they perform at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 26. The Barons are Beckman's music director Jim Kollias and Pioneer Middle School orchestra Director Doug Fisher.   Mr. Kollias and his charges have also earned Beckman a long-standing reputation for excellence in musicianship. Arnold O. Beckman High School is situated in the City of Irvine, California, but belongs to the Tustin Unified School district.   Opened in 2004, the school services the residents of both Irvine and Tustin.  In particular, the school serves the communities of Tustin Ranch, Northpark, Northwood, Sheridan, and West Irvine. In 2007, the California State Board of Education awarded Beckman High School the status of a California Distinguished School.   Beckman students  comprise a  diverse ethnic and socioeconomic community that provide outstanding support for these types of programs. World Projects International is sponsoring the New York International Music Festival where Beckman will perform.   It is one of only a select few California schools chosen to perform. Lest you miss the fun, on April 13, Beckman's orchestra will perform a concert at the school's performing arts center in Irvine.   It's located at 3588 Bryan Avenue.
