Beat The Odds!! I believe that men and women who make changes in our history are the ones who have come up against the odds, hold their ground and say “ you can’t stop me.”   These same people make the decision that there is more to them than what other people say. They believe there’s an ability inside of them to accomplish great things. They may not know exactly how they are going to do it, but they try because they believe in their dream, their mission, their purpose; they believe in themselves.   In addition, the people who change the world are the ones who have taken “impossible” out of their vocabulary. Whenever someone says “that’s impossible, you can’t do it” these folks smile and say “ I think the people saying it’s impossible need to get out of the way of the people doing it...

I live and do business in Mammoth Lakes, Ca. We are the home of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and the majority of our business base hails from Southern California.   Interesting things have been happening in my market when it comes to doing business: -30 day escrows are still the norm, but 30+ is not uncommon -the number of contacts to get someone to talk with you has risen significantly -the people doing business with you want to be sure that they are getting the best deal available -buyers, in particular, are looking for sweet deals and are in no hurry We need to really take a close look at our own markets and see the business climate for what it is and adapt. If you don’t change the way you approach sales, you’re going to suffer the consequences. Think about it. Who likes being sold? P...

Bodie is an original mining town from the late 1800's. What's left today stands in a state of "arrested decay" and is maintained by the California State Parks System, who took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park. In 1859 William (a.k.a. Waterman) S. Bodey discovered gold near what is now called Bodie Bluff. A mill was established in 1861 and the town began to grow. It started with about 20 miners and grew to an estimated 10,000 people by 1880! By then, the town of Bodie bustled with families, robbers, miners, store owners, gunfighters, prostitutes and people from every country in the world. At one time there was reported to be 65 saloons in town. Among the saloons were numerous brothels and 'houses of ill repute', gambling halls and opium dens - an entertainment outl...

The road to Reds Meadow, Rainbow Falls & Devils Postpile is now open. Daily shuttles leave the Mammoth Adventure Station and take you in to this spectacular historic area. Enjoy wonderful hikes, horseback riding & pack station and outdoor camping.   The formation of Devils Postpile began when basalt lava erupted in the valley of the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. As lava flowed from the vent, it filled the valley near the Postpile to a depth of 400 feet. Recent radiometric dating of rocks thought to correlate with basalt of Devils Postpile suggest an age of less than 100,000 years. Approximately 10,000 years ago, glaciers flowed down the Middle Fork of the San Joaquin River. This moving ice easily overrode the fractured mass of lava and quarried away one side of the Postpile, e...
