The only person I've ever known who truly loved winter down to the core of her very soul was my mother. She adored winter. She loved the way the sun's glint reflecting off frozen windswept snowdrifts could blind a person. How sub-zero temperatures could cause metal earrings to sting one's earlobes

I don't have any problem with multi-tasking except when facing certain types of death-related circumstances. While some people can't walk and chew gum at the same time, I routinely multi-task. It's often the only way to get things done during the day.
For example, I might be brushing my teeth while

The Multiple Listing Service statistics were recently published for the month of October and the figures show a very stable residential real estate market. There were 1,716 closed sales for October contrasted with the 1,631 sales that closed in September, a 5.2% increase. Of the October closed sales, 713 (41.6%) were

Believe it or not, some home buyers are having a very difficult time buying a short sale in Sacramento these days. You might ask yourself, why is that? Is it because the Sacramento market has limited inventory, which is causing buyers to compete with each other for some of the same

Now that homebuyers no longer feel pressured to buy a home before the home buyer tax credit expires (because it was extended to April 30, 2010), it seems that the market is a teeny bit quieter in Sacramento. Usually Mondays are the worst day of the week, phone-wise. My cellphone tends

Every year I am asked where Sacramento residents can volunteer to serve a Thanksgiving meal, or where they can donate food or other items to those in need. For 2009 I decided to compile a list of shelters and other organizations that may need your help.Loaves & Fishes; this year they

Part of my success in real estate is due to paying attention to my intuition and purposely scrutinizing the emotional impact of homes, especially as an agent selling homes in such landmark neighborhoods in Sacramento as Land Park and East Sacramento. These tree-canopied areas feature many older, classic homes, and each

Whenever my neighbor goes on vacation, she asks me to watch her house and pick up the mail from her front steps. This is such a quaint custom in Land Park -- throwing mail on the porch when there's too much or it's too big to stuff into the mail slot.

I closed a couple more escrows in Sacramento yesterday. One was in Natomas, which was a Wachovia short sale, and I represented the seller. The other was for buyers who had spent a long time looking at homes in Land Park until I suggested they consider a particular home that met

In this life, most of us learn to take the good with the bad. The bad is carrying a bag of used cat litter through the family room and having the bottom fall out of the bag. The good is reading Lyon Real Estate's Trendgraphix press release, which announced this

My husband is a savvy shopper, always looking for bargains and buying stuff on sale. Thank goodness he's not into those big discount chains and coming home with armloads of toilet paper. I've been to homes where the bathtub was the only place left to stash an oversupply of toilet paper.

The usual scenario goes like this: An upside-down homeowner loses his job and the family scrambles to make the mortgage payments. They borrow on credit cards, ask other family members for help, sell possessions. They may ask the lender to do a loan modification and spend months trying to qualify before

Question: Q: I wanted to buy a house. I used a mortgage broker who was NOT in the same state I was in. I was preapproved for a loan. When I found a house, my mortgage broker told me what my payment, taxes, and insurance would be. I made an offer and it was accepted. I put a $1000 down payment on the home. The day came to sign the papers. During the signing I noticed that my monthly payment was $300 higher. After a phone call to the mortgage broker, I was told that the title company found that the mortgage broker had used the wrong state tax rate to calculate the payment. The title company discovered the error and corrected it. I could not afford this higher payment and so I cancelled the transaction and lost my $1000 deposit. My question is, who is at fault? The mortgage broker said it was my agent's fault. My agent said it was the broker's fault. Please help me answer this question. Thank You.

Question: Where do I file a complaint regarding real estate broker whose staff seems incompetent which cost us the home we were purchasing. 1) We bid on a house early June and it went pending so we moved on. 2) We bid on another house we saw, but we were contacted by the other agent that we got the house...to make the story short, we were told we got the house, then we were told the bank took cash offer...so for the second time, we moved on... then we got a call saying that the cash offer backed out and if we still want the house, we have it (this is on a Friday). We specifically told the listing agent's office that we put in a bid to another house and we need to make sure that we have the house before we rescinded our offer. We were told yes so we rescinded our other offer and was waiting to get final documentation and escrow information. Then on Monday, the listing agent's office contacted our realtor saying "oh the bank made a mistake and there is another offer" and there is a possibility that we "do not" have the house..... etc. etc...
So HELP... purchasing a home is stressful enough and dealing with incompetent office is much harder. We want to make sure that no one else goes through the roller-coaster that we went through...
Thank you.

Question: Should I get a buyer agent? I'm planning on buying a home around 70k-80k in Sacramento, CA by cashing it. I'm trying to do away with unnecessary cost of getting a home. I've done all the searching and touring the streets by myself. How much would one cost me and do I really need to get one to tour the inside and buy the house?

Question: I purchased a home in October 2007. The loan is a 30 year fixed. I was wondering what the payments should be to pay off the loan in 15 years? The balance owed is 237,000.00 at 6.875 percent.
