Question: There is a house in our family that I would like to buy into. The house is worth 1.4 Million and I would like to buy out my brothers share which is worth $100,000.00 He has a mortgage for that amount. The rest if fully owned by my father (no mortgage). He paid in cash. I have a good credit rating (780), no real debt and my wife and I probably average somewhere around 80k before deductions. I do have a bankruptcy (13) from five years ago due to medical bills. What are my chances of getting a 30 year fixed at a good rate? And what can I do to avoid delay or the risk of not qualifying. I will say tha my father would be glad to co-sign or do anything he can do to help. I don't want to just take over payments of my brothers mortgage as his financial world if very complicated and I don't want to get involved with it. However, if there would be a sensical way for him to sign it over to me, I would be interested.
