Buddy is only 1 year old!.  He is what I like to call a teenage dog; still young enough to blend easily into a family and old enough to be past much of the challenging "puppy" stages. Boulder Homes for Sale - Gardening in Boulder County This weekend the weather is supposed to be the warmest weekend so far this year.  Many of you Boulder County residents are planning to do a bit of yard work and begin planting your gardens. A word of caution to you as you begin planting your garden: there is still a risk of frost.  You should feel confident to go ahead and plant seeds this weekend, but..... you might want to hold off setting out some of those tender bedding plants just yet (unless of course, you have a plan for covering them when we have a few more nights of sub-freezing temps. Being a Colorado native; I recall my Dad saying on more than one occasion "don't plant your bedding plants until after Memorial Day, unless you are willing to risk  losing them to frost."  And....

Boulder's Homeless Shelter     I am in the business of helping people buy and sell homes.  Buying a home has been labeled the "American Dream".  Not everyone in this world will be fortunate enough to live that dream.  Some may not even be able to live the dream of renting.  Homelessness exists in all communities.  Boulder may have the nickname of "The Boulder Bubble", but we are not immune to the issues of the homelessness. With an ever growing population of people living pay check to pay check and more and more people getting upside down on their mortgage, we have a large population that have one foot OUT the door.  I think you would be shocked if you researched the number of people that are just one financial step away from being truly homeless.   You might be thinking, "this seems li...

Homes For Sale in Boulder - Ward   I always like to start a blog with a nice picture.  This is the river in Left Hand Canyon on the way up to Ward.  It is a section that has been impressively dammed by some beavers.  You will see divine images like this all the way up the canyon.  The best part of Ward is that it is just a hop, skip and jump from Homes For Sale in Boulder.  Well, in my case, it was just a quick bike ride up.  This photos from this blog were taken on a training ride I snuck in between morning and afternoon appointments.  It takes me about 1:45 min to ride up from Boulder.   One of the main reasons people choose to buy a home in Boulder is because of how easy it is to escape city life.  Some people find that being outside of the city all together is even better!  Right no...

Homes For Sale in Boulder - Chautauqua Park One of my favorite reasons to live in Boulder, Colorado is the many enjoyable hikes just steps away.  Chautauqua Park is one of the many nearby treasures.  Located just minutes from downtown Boulder, right off Baseline, you can quickly escape your day to day and be inspired by breathtaking views of the Flatirons and, eventually, the city of Boulder. The park is great for hikers of all levels and is also canine friendly!  In fact, I think my golden retriever, Riley, has learned how to bark the words Chautauqua Park!  The trails are well kept and have plenty of resting points along the way so you can take a breather or enjoy a snack. The park dates back to 1898 and is part of the Chautauqua Historic Society.  At the base of the park there is a ...

The Girls Arriving after riding seven miles to school for Earth Day in Boulder. SPRING IN BOULDER I'm not sure which is my favorite season here in Boulder, Colorado.   Spring in Boulder usually isn't spring, it's usually winter or summer.   But, this year we are actually experiencing spring; rain, just a little snow, somewhat warmer days.   Mother nature is painting her canvas with beautiful color popping up everywhere.   I like spring because of the opportunities to celebrate a few things that really matter such as Earth Day (go green!), Bike to School Day (see photo), Easter (an opportunity to reflect and hopefully, respirit), and Mother's Day (after all, that's why we're all here, right?).    I can also tell it's spring because my wife has a pretty long list of "honey do's" includin...

Out-of-towners and those looking to relocate to the People's Republic of Boulder always ask for recommendations on Boulder neighborhoods, and that's a tough topic to address. Neighborhood selection is extremely subjective which, honestly, depends completely on individual lifestyles and how those lifestyles will be best supported. However, since I'm a gluton for punishment, and since I've been asked by home buyers for neighborhood recommendations twice in the last week, I thought I'd put together a few metrics around identifying some of the best 'hoods in town. Then I'll be able to (relatively) objectively weigh the pros and cons of the different areas in Boulder in which to live, which I'll do over the next 5 weeks. First, though, I need to explain how this is going to work. Step 1 - De...

What's That Noise?  Boulder County Emergency Siren Testing Today about mid morning I heard one of the emergency siren's sounding.  I waited for awhile after the siren ended and listed to see if I could hear a second siren or news of what the siren had been sounded for.  I assumed it had been a test. In case you also heard a siren today and wondered why.... here's the scoop.  The Boulder Office of Emergency Management is in the process of testing their emergency sirens throughout the county.  The first tests were conducted today.  The sirens will be tested on the first Monday of each month (starting today) through the Month of August. On the first Monday of each month, until August, the sirens will be tested both in the morning (at 10:00 a.m.) and in the evening (7:00 p.m.) How many sire...

Boulder is known for being friendly to alternative transportation, and the Eisenhower neighborhood is no different.  Located in Southeast Boulder there are great trails to travel throughout Eisenhower and to other parts of Boulder.  I have gathered a few tips on bicycling through Boulder from my site EisenhowerPulse.com. The South Boulder Creek Trail is a great feature in the neighborhood.  Daily you will see neighbors running, biking, walking, and dog-walking.  The path connects the Bobolink Trailhead at Baseline Road to the East Boulder Recreation Center. There are also a couple of pedestrian overpasses to connect Eisenhower to the rest of Boulder.  These pedestrian overpasses allow bicyclists to get over Foothills Parkway without interfering with traffic. They are located near Colora...
