Well, in the Historic Bonnie Brae Neighborhood of Denver
there is a new kid in town! Right across the street from the
Historic Bonnie Brae Tavern and just a half a
block north of the famous Bonnie Brae Ice Cream Shop is a great new
addition to the neighborhood...Grillin'Wings &
Things. Located at 723 South University Blvd,
Grillin'Wings & Things couldn't be at a better
location if the owner had tried! Grillin'Wings & Things is right where a deli used to be. Then there were a few sandwich shops, none of which lasted very long. I wandered into Grillin'Wings & Things after showing property in the nearby Belcaro neighborhood. As I was driving home along Exposition, I was thinking about how sad it was that there weren't any great wings places in the 'hood. OK, we've got Pizza Hut wings and Wing Stop, but neither can get you really excited. As I was sitting at the light at Exposition and University, a new store front sign caught my eye. After making a quick left hand turn, there was Grillin'Wings & Things! As I walked in, I noticed several patrons sitting in front of
four large screen TV's munching on wings. Painted a bright
eye catching red, the interior of Grillin'Wings &
Things is warm and friendly. It seems that Grillin'Wings & Things has had such a great opening that they ran out of their ribs! Later, while enjoying the deliciously hot chicken wings (washed down with a cold Blue Moon) Chris and the owner told me that they not only ran out of ribs, but that business had been so brisk over the weekend that they had to do a quick "wings run" and go out and purchase an additional 800 or so chicken wings. If you are in Bonnie Brae, you've got to check this place out. BUT, if you go to facebook and like Grillin'Wings & Things then you will get 5% of your bill. Not bad! At Grillin'Wings & Things you can have your
choice of several flavors. There is: The one thing that I really liked about the wings at Grillin'Wings & Things was that they offered to sear the wings on the grill after the sauce goes on but before they hit your plate. The result is an extra layer of flavor that I found to be very appealing! I also tried something that I had never even heard of before. Deep fried corn on the cob. OMG was that AWESOME. They take an ear of corn and dip it in a corn bread batter then deep fry it. It comes to you hot and delicious. Seriously, check this place out, it rocks! Click here to see the menu. Grillin'Wings & Things Grillin'Wings & Things is closed on Mondays but their hours are: Tuesday – Thursday Friday – Sunday If you live in the neighborhood, you can even have them deliver the wings to you! If you go in and the manager, Chris Swanson, takes your order, tell him you read Kerry's blog, then sit down and enjoy the best chicken wings that you can find in Denver's Historic Neighborhoods! You'll thank me, I guarantee it! If You have any questions about Historic Homes in Denver or any Metro Denver area Real Estate...Please contact me at Kerry@kerryklun.com or 303.549.0818. One of the
great things about living in the

The iconic
Bonnie Brae Tavern will bring back fond memories
for many baby boomers. The interior of the Bonnie
Brae Tavern reminds me of my childhood when my family
would go out to the local diners in northern Minnesota. Not
because there are plaid black & red flannel shirts walking
around, but because of the turquoise vinyl booths against
white walls. Just the FEEL of the Bonnie
Brae Tavern is comforting.

The University
of Denver has decided to sell the Historic Phipps
Mansion. After more than 40 years of operating the
Phipps Mansion as a conference center, the
University has listed the property for $9,200,000 and is selling
the historic property as a single family residence.
The
Bonnie Brae Neighborhood is a serene and quiet
residential area that contains only 700 homes. There are many
different types of homes in the neighborhood including brick
ranches, Cape Cods, and English Tudors and more. Most of the
homes were built in the 1930s and 1940s, but the area has a mix of
both old and new construction. A recent trend is to replace the
older homes with larger "mini-mansions" to offer more space and
luxury to residents. Because of the popularity of area,
Bonnie Brae homes hold their value extremely
well.
