Goodnight Pueblo
Dena Stevens ~ Putting the 'real' into REALTOR (Century 21 Canon Land & Investment)

Charles Goodnight must have inspired every Western novel and movie ever made. He was the inventor of the Chuck Wagon, famous rancher and trail driver. Charles mediated for the Kiowa, Comanches and the United States Army. Developer of innovative methods of ranching, and the Polled Angus cow. The cow is a cross breed of an American Buffalo and Cattolo. The Goodnight College in Texas was founded by Charles and his wife Mary Ann Dyer. A local Elementary school also bears the name.

The Goodnight barn stands a few feet from highway 96 on the edge of Pueblo at the bottom Lake Pueblo Reservoir. The rocks for the walls were harvested from the area. The barn is on the National Register of Historic places and is open to the public by appointment. The barn and the rest of the ranch are part of the Colorado State Park system.
