The East Hampton Fire Department will present the 2nd half of the Campus Fire Safety Program during Old Home days, July 10-12. All members of the East Hampton High School Class of 2008 who attend the 1st half, are encouraged to attend the 2nd half to participate in the live demonstrations of some of the topics that were covered during the first part of the presentation. Any EHHS Class of 2008 member who attends will be eligible to receive a $50 gift certificate, courtesy of East Hampton Rotary, to the bookstore of the college they will attend. On Tues July 8 from 9am-12:30pm, the East Hampton Senior Center will host a mobile mammography clinic. This service makes it convenient for women to have a screening mammogram, which is used to identify breast cancer. This program reaches ot to women who would otherwise not have access to mammography services including women without insurance coverage. The clinic is provided by Hartford Hospital and will take place at the Senior Center, located at 105 Main St, East Hampton, CT. Call the senior center in advance to sign up at 267-4426.

A new farmers Market will start up Sat July 5 at the Congregational Church of East Hampton, 59 Main St, East Hampton, CT. he market will take place Saturdays from 8am-noon thru Sept 20. Due to other local events already planned the market will not be held July 12 or 26 or Aug 30. Local CT Farmers, craft vendors, local nonprofit groups and bakers are invited to set up for the season or on a weekly basis. The Belltown Antique car Club will hold its annual monthly meeting at 7:30pm Wednesday July 2 at the East Hampton Public Library, 105 Main St, East Hampton, CT. Plans will be finalized for the 42nd Annual Vintage Motorcar Meet, to be held Sunday, Aug 3 at the Haddam Neck Fairgrounds. Anyone who is interested in the antique car hobby is welcome to attend. The Congregational Church of East Hampton will hold its annual Silent Auction on July 10,11 and 12 in conjunction with the towns Old Home Day celebration. The auction will be open Thursday and Friday from 6-9pm and Saturday from noon until the close of bidding at 6pm. The church is located on Main Street, next to Center School. The church is looking for donations from the community. These may include tickets to sporting events or shows, artwork, any new item or collectible, a few days vacation at a cottage or timeshare, gift certificates, or even merchandise from businesses.  In the past, the auction has attracted approximately 300 bidders per year and he walk through attendance is around 500. On Saturday, July 12, following the Old Home Days celebration parade, the East Hampton Rotary Club, in conjunction with many local businesses, will sponsor an Amber Alert event. This event will be set up on the Center School grounds during Old Home Days and is open to children ages infant to 17. In order to make this event free to the public, organizers are looking for more local businesses to become sponsors. The donation can be of any amount and all businesses regardless of the amount will be represented at the event. The two highest sponsors will have their business name printed on the back of the Amber Alert cards. Personal donations are also welcome. The seniors at East Hampton Senior Center are enjoying three ice cream socials this summer. While one social has passed already, two more are coming up. The next ice cream social will be after the 1pm Belltown Senior Club meeting on July 7. The last one will be after the 1pm Belltown Senior Club meeting on Aug 4. Organizers of the socials expressed thanks to John Robida and the East Hampton Village Lions. All seniors are invited to come to the East Hampton Senior Center to enjoy the ice cream sundaes.

The Joseph N. Goff House in East Hampton Village Center has announced plans for several upcoming events. These events include a photographic exhibition, Old Homes Days Past and Present, which is timed to coincide with the 30th consecutive "Glorious Celebration" of the revival of Old Home Days, which actually started in 1910. Later in the summer, the second annual taste of Local Flavor will take place on Sat Aug 24. This event featured 18 area restaurants last year. In addition, the outdoor gazebo concerts on the Center School lawn will take place on June 26, July3, 17 an 24 with bluegrass/folk, Celtic fusion, country/swing and Caribbean steel drums on successive evenings. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for he Summer Skate park will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 21, at Center School, 7 Summit St. June 21 is international Go Skateboarding Day. Events are being held around the world to raise public awareness of the benefits of skateboarding and the nee for facilities. Through the donations of more than 50 individuals and businesses, and the work of a group of East Hampton youth and the adult volunteers for the past 2 years, the Skate park will provide East Hampton youth  a safe place to skate  and ride BMX bikes this summer. Currently, there is no legal place for kids to skateboard in town except their own driveway. The East Hampton Belltown Garden Club's annual Progressive Garden Tour of three East Hampton homes is on Monday, June 23 beginning at 6pm. Tour starts at Sue Hewes' house, 7 Lake Blvd, and progresses to Ann Hecht's home at 265 White Birch Rd (corner of White Birch and Portland Rd), then to member Peggy Becker's house for Pizza and "a lake view". Podium Players, Inc., will hold auditions for Willy Wonka Jr., based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, on Monday, June 16 from 6:30-8:30pm, and Sunday June 22 from 5-7pm, at East Hampton Public Library, 105 Main St, East Hampton, CT.  For thsoe  who get cast, there will be a $125 activity fee. Rehearsals start the 1st week of September, and the production will take place Oct 24, 25 and 26 (tentative). The auditions are for young people entering grades 1-12. People should bring sheet music and a recent photo, and be ready to rad, sing and dance. The play will be directed by Valerie Bozzi and choreographed by Kim Cordeiro. The East Hampton Village Lions Club (EHVL) is selling tickets to The Travelers Championship which will be held June 16-22 at the Tournament Players Club in Cromwell, CT. One day general admission tickets are $20 each, a $12 savings per ticket. Tickets are non refundable. There is no admission for children 15 and under with a ticketed adult. Parking is additional. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the EHVL scholarship fund and local charitable projects. The East Hampton Animal Control Department will hold its annual rabies Clinic tomorrow, Sat June 14 from 10am to noon at the Barton Hill Fire Department. State law requires all cats and dogs to be vaccinated. One and three year old vaccinations will be given. A three year shot will be given with proof of previous vaccination. A rabies certificate must be shown, otherwise a one year vaccination will be given. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats must be in a carrier. Cost is $15, cash only.

The Second Congregational Church of Middle Haddam will have its annual Strawberry Shortcake Social at the church, 52 Middle Haddam , Middle Haddam, CT on Saturday June 21 from 3-7pm. There will be homemade biscuits, served with strawberries and topped with real whipped cream. The strawberries are picked from a local berry farm in Glastonbury.
