Middletown, CT Awarded The Democracy Challenge Cup For Highest Voter Turnout percentage for Large Towns in Connecticut for the  2012 Presidential Election, this past Wednesday, by Secretary of the State Denise Merrill.  The Democracy Cup is given  annually to the small, mid-sized, and large towns/cities in Connecticut with the highest voter turnout on Election Day.  Towns with less than 5,000 registered voters are considered small; towns with between 5,000 and 14,999 registered voters are considered mid-size, towns with 15,000 and 49,999 registered voters are considered large towns.   I did not think that we were going to have a White Christmas In Middletown, Connecticut this year but we did.  As you can see from the picture above there was not much snow, but it was enough to stick to the trees, grass, and my deck. The the type of snow fall that we got Christmas Morning is the kind I like, because it was enough to make things white, but not enough to need to be shoveled.  However, we are getting more snow right now, but I am ready it, and for whatever Old Man Winter throws at me this year with my new snow blower, even for the amount of snow that we got two years ago. I am not a Pet lover but I know many people that are, including my Daughter In-Law who has rescue dogs, and recently a foster dog.  So when I went by this sign today about the "Community Dog Walking Path" at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Hospital, it got my attention. The Snow Is Starting Early This Year.  Last year the same thing happened, and then hardly any snow for the rest of the Winter, but somehow I have a feeling that it will be a different result this year. The snow started around 11:00 a.m. yesterday, and stopped, at least I thought it had stopped around 10:00 last night.  I figured that I would go out, and shovel it up so that I did not have to do it this morning.  Well mother nature is a prankster, so when I got up this morning my driveway and cars were covered with snow all over again.  That was not the way I had planned on starting out my day.   I have never been to a Train Show, but this one is less than a half mile form my house so I am going to make an effort to attend the Train Show At Xavier High School In Middletown Connecticut. A number of my friends have been into model trains for a long time, and I have gotten to see a few of their set ups.  After seeing the different model trains that each of them have, and the way that they have set them up, it is easy to see why they are hooked on them. One of my friends has a model train that circles his back yard through a bunch of tunnels and over bridges.  Another friend has one that he has built a track that runs up close to the ceiling and circles the office.   OK so may be It isn't a real Canadian Invasion, but a few days before Hurricane Sandy hit it felt that way with all of the Canadian Geese that  descended on us here in Middletown Connecticut.  Just in the short time that I was standing there, the Canadian Geese were flying in and out, so much so that it felt like a Canadian Invasion.
