In 2000, Golden Gate Point was a small waterfront community adjacent to Marina Jack's and the downtown Bayfront in Sarasota.  Many of the condominium buildings at that time were old buildings in need of repair or possibly in need of being torn down and replaced with  state-of-the-art buildings.  In just 8 years, this community has made an unbelievable transformation.  Waterfront condo owners on Golden Gate Point have sweeping views of Sarasota Bay, the downtown marina or the new Ringling Bridge.  The Gulf of Mexico can be spotted in the distance from some of the higher units.

It seems that a plan to improve the streets of Golden Gate Point is getting closer to being a reality. Already home to several of Sarasota's most luxurious condominiums, the area will now have beautiful streets and landscaping as well.  The plan calls for two 11 foot driving lanes, 17 foot perpendicular parking and sidewalks on both sides of the streets. The streets will constructed of brick pavers that match those used on Ritz Carlton's street. Other planned improvements include pendant light fixtures, all new underground utility lines, new sewer and irrigation lines, lush tropical landscaping, and new trash and dog refuse containers.  Guest parking spaces will be increased from 81 spaces to 124. Construction is expected to start in late 2007 and take approximately 6 months to complete.
