While strolling around Waikiki and looking at all the upgrading that is being done to keep it as a top world destination, I noticed some very unobtrusive kiosks. One was right outside the Police Station at the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, and another across from the Galleria (and there may be others).
The Waikiki Business Improvement District Association (WBIDA) started a Hospitality Program back in 2007. Its mission: “enhancing the quality of life in Waikiki by providing its businesses, visitors, employees and residents with a clean, safe and enjoyable environment to live, work and play!”

And the trained "Aloha Ambassadors" are a helpful presence right on the street at their kiosk, bicycling on the streets, or walking the beach of Waikiki. Besides giving directions and other helpful information, they are there to deter crime and can administer first aid. The ambassadors, some bi- or tri-lingual, aged between 19 and 74, are chosen for their "Aloha Spirit" and have diverse backgrounds.
Waikiki is teeming with visitors and it is a good feeling to have these "Aloha Ambassadors" there to approach with a problem. This can be anything from finding the nearest public restroom to seeing something on-toward but not problematic enough to find a policeman. Then the "Aloha Ambassador" can make up his/her mind whether to report it or not.
THE "WAIKIKI ALOHA AMBASSADOR" IS YOUR FRIEND IN WAIKIKI.
DON'T HESITATE TO TALK TO HIM/HER, THEY WELCOME IT.
Caption below: The Police Station is located next to the Moana Hotel towards Diamond Head. The Police work together with the "Aloha Ambassadors" to keep the peace in Waikiki. And that's a big job; Waikiki is being visited by thousands of visitors each day. Not to mention the residents that have made Waikiki their home like, possibly, the couple below.
