My Favorite Honolulu Neighborhoods:  The Wailupe Area, in the Diamond Head Region of Honolulu The Wailupe Area neighborhood is located between the Waialae and Aina Haina neighborhoods along Kalanianaole Highway. Most homes here are roughly 2,000 square feet in size or larger and most lot sizes exceed 10,000 square feet. Oceanfront homes along the edge of the Wailupe Peninsula often feature larger lots up to 19,000 square feet in size. Of course, interior homes are less expensive but are still a short, easy walk to the beach. Residents of Wailupe enjoy fish and surfing. Coral reefs create good surf spots offshore and the reefs also help keep the waters calm along the beach. Wailupe Beach Park is right next door, adjacent to the Wailupe Peninsula.
