Almost every Sunday my daughter, Kela Caspillo, and I watch her God-daughter, Kayzia. We are always looking for new things to do with her, (besides going to different beaches). This last Sunday we decided to go to Allerton Gardens on the south side of Kauai. On Sunday Allertons offers a Kamaaina discount rate. We took advantage of the rate. Not only were there locals on our tour but we also had visitors from Japan & the Netherlands. The beginning of the tour starts  with a scenic bus ride as it drives along the coast line in Poipu and goes inland towards Lawai. I was impressed with the beautiful views and the privacy of Allerton's Bay/Beach. So what do the Poipu condo sales statistics reveal? Could the trend be turning around for condo sales on the south shore of Kauai?  The Koloa District condo sale statistics for 2011 showed improvement and topped 2010 with an increase in both the number of sales and the median sales price.  The least expensive condo sold in 2011 was offered for sale for $150,000 and sold for $115,000 at Kiahuna Planatation.  Unit #304 sold in April and is a 1 bedroom/1 bath Leasehold condo.  It originally came on the market in July of 2008 when it was listed for $240,000.  Currently there are 42 condos offered for sale at Kiahuna Plantation priced form $129,000 to $1,795,000.  My husband and I owned a Kiahuna condo in the 1990's and we love that property.  It is really a special place.   At the high end ... 01/14/2012

A press release is to be issued today regarding the lucury condominium project in Poipu, Koloa Landing.  Koloa Landing will be part of the high-end Wyndham Grand Collection.  This project has been under construction since June 2008 and Phase I is due to be complete this year.  It will consist of 322 units located in a prime location on 25 acres close to world-famous Poipu Beach. The long-awaited, upscale Kukui'ula Shopping Village now has an abundance of stores that are open for business.  Two notable openings include Merriman's Restaurant which I hope to try real soon.  Another is a fun store called Living Foods Market & Cafe.  In addition to island-grown products, it also features gormet foods & wines that have not been available on Kauai until now.  It's a fun place to roam and even better if you take something home.    Aloha!
