Glen Ellyn Buyers – Buying a Home in the Glen Ellyn Woods
Carol Spengel Wheaton IL (Prudential Rubloff )

The Glen Ellyn Woods is very near and dear to my heart.  When my parents moved to Glen Ellyn in the mid 70s, they moved us to a ranch in the Glen Ellyn Woods.   It was a wonderful neighborhood to grow up in.  Ironically, 30 years later, my son has numerous friends from Briarcliffe Baseball who live in the Woods.

The Glen Ellyn Woods is an eclectic group of homes ranging in age from the 1960s.   The curving, tree lined streets allow for the homes to have more land than most in-town Glen Ellyn homes.  They range in size from a half acre to an acre.

The location couldn’t be better.  This neighborhood borders the Morton Arboretum.  It is also just minutes to I88 and I355 toll ways.   The Glen Ellyn Woods is officially unincorporated Glen Ellyn.  That means homeowners do not have automatic access to the Glen Ellyn Park District, Glen Ellyn Fire Department, Glen Ellyn Library or city water (they do not pay taxes to these organizations).  Now some residents do have city water and sewers, but that is on a home-by-home basis.
