I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by a lovely couple in need of a home away from home in Silver Spring, MD. While I listened to their wants and needs I immediately thought of the Americana Finnmark subdivision as the ideal location: steps from Forest Glen Metro, just 1 stop south to Downtown Silver Spring (new place of employment for one of my clients) and 1 stop north to shopping and within close proximity to local parks.

The Americana Finnmark condo development is a quiet community that has a great reputation. It offers several amenities (tennis court, swimming pool, playgrounds and BBQ gathering areas), is well maintained and is also lead by a management team that is approachable and on top of everything.

My clients agreed and jumped at the opportunity to call a condo at Americana Finnmark their new home away from home.

Location, location, location are the three words that best sum up Americana Finnmark's appeal for Silver Spring, MD home buyers! The condominium complex is across the street from the Forest Glen Metro Station in 20902 Silver Spring, MD.

It's also within close proximity to the beltway, Holy Cross Hospital and neighborhood parks such as General Getty's and McKenny Hills as well as Sligo Creek Park. Plenty of shopping and restaurants are just one Metro stop away in either direction: Westfield Wheaton Mall to the north and Silver Spring Downtown to the South.

Americana Finnmark consists of several 3-story and one mid-rise building with mostly 1 and 2 bedroom condos, all of which have a private patio or balcony. Some condos feature a washer & dryer in the unit, for the rest secured laundry rooms are available on the basement level, free of charge. Many show pride of ownership with beautifully maintained parquet flooring and upgraded kitchens and baths. 

The monthly condo fee may seem steep at first glance. However, all utilities - gas, electric, heat and water - are included. The community is fully fenced in and also features several amenities: tennis courts, basketball court, picnic area, play-grounds and a swimming pool.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that Americana Finnmark is not the most attractive subdivision - it's clean and ver well maintained but its visual appeal is lacking a bit with its color scheme of brown, brown and well, brown.

However, if you can look past that and are searching for a condo near the Silver Spring, MD Metro, Americana Finnmark is well worth a visit!
