The house where my in-laws live is on a quiet little cul de sac street. It has always been a stable, safe neighborhood, but lately there has been a rash of garage break ins. They have lived there for 47 years...we arn't moving them with a bulldozer!

Question: We have used a walkway or easement to the lake for the past 50 or more years. Now we are being told by new owners of a plotted parcel that we have no right to use the easement. I guess you would call us backloters.l Would we have the right to easement if we get and fill out a adverse procession form? If so where can we get this form? We have tryed to no avail. Thank you.

I had this question e-mailed to me and do not know how to advise, can you help?
My wife and I filed backruptcy last year and it was discharged in November. My question is are we still able to claim the interest that we paid on both mortgages in the first part of the year and also if the paperwork will be easy enough for me to sort through myself? I always do our taxes and have never had a problem before but wanted to be sure that this would not present an issue this year.
