Do you have a mentor on
ActiveRain? This is indeed a generous
community and I have several mentors, but for
photography…whether he knows it or not…my mentor is
William
Johnson from San Diego, California. When I was really
new to AR…holy cow…I missed my one year anniversary! February
22nd, 2011. Anyway, as usual I’ve digressed. When I was
brand new, William visited one of my posts and took a shine to my
photos. He took half an hour out of his schedule and spent it with
me on the phone giving me invaluable advice about how to edit
better and where to edit better. He also helped me through the
mechanics of inserting images into the posts.
The other day I posted a collage of a few photos I took of the
Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC when Leslie
attended the Arts & Crafts Conference there a
week ago. The collage template made the photos very small and sure
enough in the comments section, there was my friend and photo
mentor oh so gently chiding me for restricting the size. He was
right of course and I knew they were too small when I posted them
but…have you ever signed into AR to do your post but you are so
tired you feel like you could nod off right there at the computer?
That was how I felt that night after a day filled of showing
houses.
So, William, if you are reading this, these photos were reposted
with you in mind and I wanted to take another opportunity to let
you know how very much I appreciate everything bit of advice and
support you’ve given me over the last year. The title of Ambassador
suits you perfectly.
A word to other ActiveRain members. We are
a generous community. Take some time and share your
talents, your investment will come back to you a hundred
fold.
This is taken from the back of the Grove Park Inn showing
the building above the terraces.

A view of downtown Asheville,NC and a portion of the Blue
Ridge Mountains.

I don’t even play golf but would enjoy strolling this
beautiful course at the Grove Park Inn.

It only takes about 40 minutes from Sylva, NC to
drive to the city of Asheville…our largest city in
Western North Carolina. Here’s just a couple of
examples of the beauty of Asheville, the fabulous
Grove Park Inn with it’s commanding view of
downtown Asheville and the mountain vista overlooking the golf
course plus a bronze statue of a young girl drinking from a
fountain on the busy streets of the downtown area.
Asheville is a well-known haven of artists and
musicians and touches similar to those in these photos are found
everywhere in the city.

Definitely well worth the drive!

Mona Gersky, GRI,ABR~MoonDancer Realty~ Western NC Mountains (Buyer & Seller Representation)
A month ago, Karen Hawkins posted beautiful
photographs of the sun in a winter sky that looked
surprisingly like a moonrise. As I walked on the terrace at the
incredible Grove Park Inn in Asheville,
NC yesterday afternoon I noticed that Karen’s Canada
sky was here in the mountains of Western North
Carolina! Or maybe our sky was in Canada? It is a small
world indeed.

The plants I shot through looked like some kind of oleander type
plant but I don’t know what they are. The plants are huge, probably
8 feet high and this time of year are yellowish and straw like. The
sun shone weakly through a winter sky and I took several shots. To
me they look very otherworldly.

GROVE PARK Neighborhood - Asheville’s Heart of
Luxury .
If your idea of “luxury” is strolling along curvilinear streets
under magnificent tree canopies, this Asheville neighborhood
responds. You are at the heart of luxury. The homes you see
as you amble along the way are beautiful. . . and elegant.
Here you will find Neo-Classical, American Foursquare,
Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Georgian Revival, Bungalow,
Italian Renaissance, Queen Anne homes…many designed by Richard
Sharp Smith.
As a REALTOR specializing in “upscale properties” here in
Asheville, I know first-hand how much my clients enjoy living
in the
Grove Park Neighborhood.
And, if you were to ask them, they would
probably smile in the
friendly way
that residents in this neighborhood do, and tell you that, Grove
Park is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in all of
Asheville.
Bordered on one side by the Grove Park Inn golf course, and one the
other by lovely mansions mostly built in the 1920s, it is a
personal favorite of mine. Contact me for details.
