This beautiful home is set to close next week just in time for the new family to enjoy their First Thanksgiving in Morehead City, NC.   I couldn't be happier for the buyers as I know they got purchased a wonderful home in a popular community and the sellers are excited to begin their new chapter in life in Michigan closer to family and old friends. Brooke Woods is located outside the city limits of Morehead City but just a mile or two from the Morehead City Golf & Country Club, the Medical District and shopping.  No city taxes and larger lot sizes has been a nice attraction for buyers looking to budget and not compromise. The neighborhood is small and friendly. There is a community pool and small  HOA fee  $350/yr.  You missed out on this beautiful home but if you give me a call it wo...

Happy Snow Day Eastern Carolina! It's not too often we get the opportunity to see snow on the Crystal Coast, but when we do.... We enjoy it to the fullest.  After 24 hours of sleet & frozen rain, the roads are hazardous and the town is "Shut Down".  If you must leave the house, please be careful out there.  If you are lucky enough to stay home, ENJOY!

Linguine and Clams… Fresh Clams. The best  !!! Yesterday afternoon after a wonderful day with buyers ( who by the way submitted an offer on a home  ) in Morehead City, NC … I stopped in Blue Ocean Fish Market on Bridges Street (near the corner of 20th) for clams. I’ve been thinking   about them for about a week and had to stop and get my fix ! I simply steamed them  but putting them in a roasting pan with boiling shallow water . I flavor the water with some bacon scraps and salt..that’s all because I will put them into the linguine/ diced tomato , white wine dish.    Ive cooked them many ways, my favorite being left-overs for a nice chowder  the following day! ( Today  )   If I had more time to plan .. I love the whole Creole style with corn cob/ sausage /potato with clam roast. 200 cla...

Ruddy Duck Tavern.. My favorite restaurant in Morehead City is located on the waterfront downtown and truly has a menu  that appeals to all !  Today my daughter Kaitlin and I had a big bowl of their Clam Chowder.. a unique stew famous at Ruddy  Duck, Cajun Grouper Bites with a Remoulade and of course a few Cold Beers.  At 2 in the afternoon the place was packed. I wasn’t surprised. They take in quite a croud all year round and has been a family favorite of ours since they opened in 2008.          Mr Kingery, one of the owners ,  of western PA has a “Pittsburger Burger” on the menu my husband  who is also from Western PA enjoys.. We’ve even sent a Pittsburgh Steeler player in to have a meal and to meet the owners.  My  favorites revolve as their specials do … and Chef Botta the other own...

Brandywine Bay, March 2012 - Market Report When Comparing closed listings from March 2011 vs. March 2012, number of Sales are up 200%.  The number of Pending Sales however, has decreased 20% year over year comparison.  There are still a great number of listings currently available in Brandywine Bay.  In fact, that number has increased slightly over the previous year, so there is still a lot of competition out there if you are trying to sell your property.  Unfortunately for sellers, Prices are still decreasing year to date. The average List Price in March 2012 was $302,900 and the average sales price was $282,916. Click Here to view  Homes for sale in Brandywine Bay

What to do when you wake up to find you have NO Water! This morning, my husband woke me up bright (actually dark) & early to inform me we have no water!  Don't panic yet, we had enough bottled water to  make a pot of coffee (we have our priorities). Once the sun came up, we headed outside to make sure the Well Pump was getting electricity to it, and it was.  So what does one do?   If you live in the Carteret County, North Carolina area, You call Admiral Plumbing!  Unfortunately, we had to call them a few years ago when our pipes were cracked to the well.  We had to call them again after returning home from our Hurricane Irene evacuation, and of course, we called them at 7 am this morning when we found out about our situation.  Someone was here by 8:30 am, and temporarily got our pump to...

Getting Fit at Swinson Park in Morehead City, NC The New Year often brings New Goals.  One of my goals (and I understand that it is most common new year resolution), is to get in shape.  I quit smoking 6 months ago, and replaced tobacco & nicotine with food & candy. The good news is that I recognize the direction I am going and am doing something about it.... Move More, Eat Less! If you live in Carteret County there are a couple of Gym & Fitness Centers you can join, but you certainly don't have to be a member of a gym to get in shape.  Other than the Treadmill in my bedroom that offers me early morning walks while the family is still sleeping, I try to get outside as often as possible.  Riding my bike isn't too productive as I am usually riding along side my 7 year old who pokes along ...
