The Big Book Nook in Pine Knoll Shores  I absolutely LOVE books!  I also LOVE recycling!  The Big Book Nook, ran by a wonderful group of volunteers for Friends of the Library - Bogue Banks, is the newest and one of the greatest additions (in my opinion) to Pine Knoll Shores.  I can buy great books, support a great cause, and it's recycling at the same time.   It may not look like much from the photo to the left, but when I walked through the door this morning.... I was totally smitten. The Big Book Nook is filled with slightly used books & some new books and they are offered at great prices.  The money collected from the sale of the books is used to help support the library's many services offered.  Instead of hosting book sales once or twice a year, and hauling boxes of really heavy bo...

Pine Knoll Shores Turkey Trot   If you are anything like me, you LOVE Thanksgiving Day and you also LOVE Thanksgiving Dinner.  I tend to overeat, especially in the dessert category, and then I overeat some more.   Why not start your day with a walk or bike ride through the beautiful town of Pine Knoll Shores.  On Thanksgiving Day, show up at McNeil Park (off Oakleaf Drive) to register for the 3rd Annual Turkey Trot.  Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.  The bike ride and run begins at 9:30 a.m.  Don't let the word "run" scare you..... you can run, walk, stroll, crawl or however you want to cross the finish line.  I can't think of a better way to start Thanksgiving Day, than by burning a few calories, making room for the Thanksgiving Feast, and enjoying the beautiful community I am so thank...

My Town is the Centerfold! As I was flipping through the pages of the latest edition of "Coastal Living" magazine, I was thrilled to see the town of Pine Knoll Shores featured in "21 Best Beach Vacations". While it is a wonderful place to visit, it's an even better place to live.  "Coastal Living" refers to our area as North Carolina's best-kept beach secret and refers to Pine Knoll Shores as a strip of fine white sand that's home to the North Carolina Aquarium.  They forgot to mention Bogue Sound, the Country Club of the Crystal Coast, Trinity Center, the most awesome views of the Atlantic, and the sweet, southern hospitality of the folks who live in Pine Knoll Shores.   Oh well, it's still too cool and I am proud to call Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina home!  What a fabulous place t...
