America’s Stonehenge…. A 4000 year old mystery right here in Southern, NH. This weekend my family and our friends went to visit Americas Stonehenge right here in Salem, NH it’s most likely the oldest man made construction here in the United States. It’s a series of walls, caves, drains, chambers and even a sacrificial table. We were also excited to see not one but two dug wells located on the site. It’s about a two to three hour mild hike through the remains and the astronomical trail filled with History, science and lets not forget the Alpaca’s.
Stone Hedge was originally opened to the public in 1958 under the name MysteryHillCaves. It was renamed in the 1980’s to better reflect the sites history. The site is continuously being researched and studied to this day but carbon readings date the site to a early as 2000BC. This was a fun filled day for the family. It has an adorable gift shop for the family.
