Mobile Office 101 When you blog on the run like I do, it pays to have a mobile office that's compact and versatile. It doesn't matter if you are into Windows or Mac. What matters is that your equipment does what you want it to do when you need it to do it. It warmed up today (and actually rained) so the diffused lighting made my photo-shoot at the South Street Sea Port an interesting challenge. Working with a Nikon and Toshiba laptop I was able to capture and process my digital images on the fly in order to make snap decisions regarding the subject matter of my next gallery show. I started sketching this view an hour ago. When I get back home I'm going to block it out on a canvass and start painting it for the wee people. I plan on turning it into a limited edition art poster when I am done. Inna Hardison of HA Media Group will be the print vendor on this project. I'm looking forward to working with her firm. It's an excellent company and if you haven't subscribed to Inna's blog you may want to check it out here. On my way into the studio to continue working on our next album. The best part about having a mobile office is  the fact  that I can set up and break down my gear just about anywhere. I can switch between chasing the Little Minions, Writing, Illustration, Photography, Video, Film, Music and Real Estate with the click of a mouse. I can also lurk on your blogs and play in social media during break time (LOL). ;-) Disclaimer: Any comments and contributions provided on (or other electronic or print media) does not establish an agency relationship with any third party. A Great Way to See New York City - Sunset Sail on a Schooner
Louis Snitkin, "Results That Will Move You" (Halstead Property)
What a great way to get away from looking at New York apartments for a little while, and be reminded that New York City is amazing!  I joined a group of friends this week for a two hour sunset sailing cruise that traveled from Pier 17 at South Street Seaport, around the Statue of Liberty, and back.  Unlike the big Circle Line cruises, our trip was aboard the Clipper City, a 158 foot schooner built from the plans of the original 1854 ship that was built in Wisconsin. The original ship was decommissioned in 1890, but in 1984 naval architects rebuilt her, with modifications to meet modern safety regulations. The plans are in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian. She carries six fore-and-aft rigged sails, and two square topsails on two steel masts.  Oh, it also has a full cash bar. It was a beautiful night, albeit a little cool; with a good, stiff headwind.  The sky was crystal clear, and the lights of the city were truly awe inspiring. The size and scope of New York can be best appreciated when you take a step back, and see it from this perspective. This week is UN Week, and dignitaries are to be found wherever you go.  Our cruise was no exception, as it was complete with two gentlemen in blazers who had those little Secret Service clear earpieces, and sat on either side of some folks who were not dressed for a sailing adventure. However you're dressed, and where ever you're from, it's a great way to spend a couple of hours. South Street Seaport (Pier 17) -- "Manhattan as a tourist" -- Part 3 of 5 -- Day 2
Jeff Belonger, The FHA Expert - FHA Loans - FHA mortgages - USDA loans - VA Loans ( Social Media - Infinity Home Mortgage Company, Inc)
As we leave Battery Park City, we are now on our way to South Street Seaport (Pier 17) which is around the corner. This is Part 3 of a 5 part series of Manhattan. The South Street Seaport is considered a historical district with some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan. This area includes renovated original mercantile buildings from the early 19th century, renovated sailing ships, the former Fulton Fish Market, and a few malls featuring food, shopping and nightlife, with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Some of the original buildings were built in the early 1800's. It was later founded by Peter and Norma Stanford in 1967 as a museum. Its intent was to be an educational historic site to show its operational environment from 1820 to 1860. It began its redevelopment of the Pier in 1982 to transform the museum into a tourist area to include modern shopping areas and restaurants. Also docked at the Seaport are a few historical sailing vessels, including the Flying P-Liner, Peking and museum ships.   To my left is  the Peking which is docked next to Pier 17. The Peking, a 347 foot wind operated vessel, is the second largest sailing ship in it's existence. She usually carried general cargo from Europe to the West Coast of South America.  To my right is a picture of the Financial District taken outside of Pier 17. You can also see the Peking in the foreground with some tables out front for eating purposes to enjoy the scenery around you on a nice, gorgeous day as we experienced. The Financial District consists of offices and headquarters of the many cities major financial institutions, to include the New York Stock Exchange. This area was anchored by the until the World Trade Center until the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.     As you can see to my left is the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. When it  opened on May 24, 1883, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world and the first steel-wire suspension bridge. The bridge that you see beyond the Brooklyn Bridge is the Manhattan Bridge.     This photo was taken by Postdlf. I wanted to include this to give you another perspective of the bridge's architecture and size.  The bridge was designed by an engineering firm owned by John Augustus Roebling.  To your right is a grid of Manhattan. The turquoise shaded area represents Lower Manhattan.    And before we left the area, of course my 2 nieces and nephew had to show off their personalities down by the water at the Pier. Again, what an absolutely gorgeous day to enjoy all that Manhattan has to offer and with family. From left to right (Alisha 3, Katerina 7 1/2, & Johnny 7 1/2)      For anyone needing the services of a realtor in Manhattan or the surrounding areas of NYC, please don't hesitate to contact : Mitchell Hall - New York NY  -- Mitchell's Manhattan Real Estate Blog. Mitchell and I didn't have a chance to catch up because he was actually working with clients that weekend.
