Gay Marriage is NOT "Bad for Feng Shui" by Laura Cerrano

I just read an article titled, "Greenwhich Village restaurant sued for backing out of gay wedding" from the Daily News, NBC New York and many other news sources.  To be fair, yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions, that why we practice Freedom of speech.  If you do have something to say, please be sure your facts are straight before you speak.

For those who don't know, Greenwhich Village is a huge supporter the gay and lesbian community in NYC. It is also a very festive, trendy and cultural part of Manhattan that offers amazing creative energy for all to experience.  If you are a restaurant owner or person who disagrees with this lifestyle and culture that Greenwhich Village offers, either be open minded and excepting or perhaps it is not the best location for you to do business and live in.

Second, please do not make excuses for what you fear and do not understand by confusing the principles of Feng Shui, a beautiful belief, with a negative portrayal.

This can be a very controversial subject for many but,Laura Cerrano would like to congratulate New York State for making a positive historical change for many. When people have to fight for their Freedom or right to simply be themselves, usually that stems from others who are afraid or have FEAR and little understanding of that given situation.  When you have the ingredients of fear and no knowledge on that subject, you create the outcome for conflict.

Just about every generation, race and sex throughout history has had to fight for some kind of equality. Thinking back to the Civil Rights era, Women pushing for the right to vote, which when you think about that was not that long ago, and now same sex marriage.

New York we are a progressive state and it is well over due for us to think that way :)

Greenwich Village’s Blue Note jazz club, one of the most notable jazz clubs in a neighborhood full of them, is welcoming saxophonist Dee Lucas this Saturday. Lucas, a self-taught saxophonist, is currently touring behind his third record, Standing Room Only. Lucas plays a form of contemporary smooth jazz, peppered with influences of R&B and contemporary pop music.

The Blue Note is one of the most popular jazz clubs in the city, and it has hosted such great musicians as Dizzy Gillespie and Tito Puente. Time will tell if we can add Dee Lucas to that list.
