The BIA made this video about the 2011 Parade of Homes at Olentangy Falls in March 2011, you can see some of the eleven homes while they were under construction.  

Most of the homes exteriors are very done, or very close... in the video in March 2011.  The changes that landscaping do are always amazing to me.   How quickly landscaping can make a Parade Home blend right into it's surroundings is wild.

The woman taking the video of the homes in Olentangy Falls was in front of the P & D Builders house.  She shows the M/I  Home, The Weaver Custom Home, The Rockford Home.... she was on the east end of the street... with the 2011 Parade of Homes.

Really my photos do not do these homes or the landscaping justice.... I believe I found the five homes that match the homes in the video...

"and on down the block there" were the other six homes Manor Homes, Ambassador Homes, Compass Homes, Dominion Homes, Fischer Homes and New England Homes.... All the 2011 Parade homes except the M/I Homes entry were sold prior to the beginning of the 2011 Parade of Homes at Olentangy Falls.

I believe the March 2011 video shows 5 of the 11 homes in the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes at Olentangy Falls that I have pictured here. Or do I have any confused?

I was on the BIA Parade Blog today, looking to see whether they'd announced the People's Choice Awards yet....  I don't see it there.   Am I missing it?  Actually I was looking to see if I could tell how long after the 2010 Parade in New Albany... or the 2009 Parade at Tartan West the announcement was made of who the public voted for....

Instead I watched this video and thought about what a little actually a lot (lots?) of landscaping can do for a new home. 

I never drove into the Olentangy Fallls neighborhood until May 2011, the Friday before Memorial Day... the construction was crazy...  I could not get to the bottom of the hill to see the New England Homes, 2011 Parade entry. I did not know it was a circle.  Duh!  I could have come around to see the New England Homes parade house.  I got to see the New England Home inside and out the Thursday before the parade started.  I digress.. this is NOT about the New England Homes house in the 2011 Parade of Homes.  It did not make the March video... The New England Homes house was way down the hill.

Olentangy Falls is in Liberty Township in Delaware County.  The homes in the Olentangy Falls neighborhood have a Delaware address, their zip code is 43015.  Olentangy Falls is in Olentangy schools.

Lots are still available in Olentangy Falls

There are still lots available in the Olentangy Falls subdivision, which was developed by Rockford Homes.  Olentangy Falls is such a unique location for Central Ohio.  Unique terrain.  If you need a real estate agent...

The BIA did do a video of New England Homes ... looks like this was made after the Parade of Homes began on June 11.

The porch has spectacular views. The builder, Doug Annette, of New England Homes said "rookery." This spectacular lot in Olentangy Falls, overlooks a "heron rookery. " I had to look up what a "rookery" is.... 

Real Living HER's Builder and Developer Services Division is representing New England Homes now. This is very, very recently... like a week or so before the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes started, things were put in place...

The 2011 Parade of Homes is only through Sunday, June 26, 2011. That's this Sunday. Get out there quick if you have not seen the homes and neighborhood. Olentangy Falls is not a typical Central Ohio neighborhood, go take a look.

Breaking NEWS.... New England Homes CLEANED UP in the awards

A photo of the awards on the marble island in the award winning kitchen appeared on  both ColumbusBestBlog.com and Columbus Life (on Posterous) during the BIA Parade of Homes Preview Party last night.  This same photo of the awards appeared on those two sites during the Parade of Homes Preview Party, June 10, 2011.

"Cleans Up in Awards Ceremony"

The New England Homes entry got the most awards?  That's what people were reporting as they returned to the New England Homes house (#1 in the Parade of Homes... just in the order) during last nights Preview Party.  I wish I could tell you who said "You guys are cleaning up" as he walked into the New England Homes house.  An exciting moment and evening even as a volunteer... Real Living HER's Builder Service Division is working with New England Homes. I probably ought to mention I am working on the Real Living HER New Homes team working with New England Homes now...

The BIA Parade of homes has eleven entries this year.  Talking to the President of Ambassador Homes last night (during the storm that came through myself and a co-worker were stuck* in the Ambassador model ) that house went in contract Thursday night...  By stuck I mean no disrespect to the Ambassador Home, they were not a food and beverage station  and we were there during the big storm that came through southern Delaware County last night.  I would have been happier stuck in any house with food and drink.  We went to the Ambassador Homes entry  first after working about two hours at the New England Home.  We specifically went to see the interior design of the Ambassador Home.  If I understood correctly the President of Ambassador Homes said all of the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes entries are now sold? 

Or close?  Maybe he said he'd heard M/I Homes was negotiating on their house.

Would that set some sort of record with the Parade of Homes if all the homes were sold before the Parade of Homes opened?  Today is the first day of the Parade of Homes.  There will be signs in front of the homes telling you what awards they won.

It was awesome that even going into the Parade of Homes earlier in the week, eight of the eleven homes were sold.  You've heard from the media that no one is buying homes.  No one is building homes... I digress.

Back to New England Homes house which was sold long before the Parade of Homes opened.

If I counted correctly, the gorgeous "Connecticut farmhouse style home" with the wrap around porch received

• 6 Gold
• 2 Silver
• 4 Bronze
• An honorable mention

I will have to sort out what the six Gold awards, 2 silver, etc on the New England Home are...  Kitchen, Exterior Architecture, Plan, Library / Study  come to mind.

New England Homes is  #1 in order of the parade.  You will enter through a gate just south (?) of the New England Homes house.

New England Homes - Ohio

The Central Ohio BIA Parade of Homes starts Saturday, June 11, 2011 and the New England Homes entry is awesome.  Real Living HER Builder Services is representing New England Homes.

The Parade of Homes Preview Party is Friday June 10, 2011.  Tickets for the Preview Party are $75.00 and are still available from the BIA.  The BIA awards are announced on Friday night,  for the best kitchens, best great rooms, the best outdoor living area, etc.   The BIA awards a bronze, silver and gold award for a number of home features.

The photo of the New England Homes entry in last Sunday's Columbus Dispatch article on the eleven entries to the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes focused on the big wrap around front porch of the New England Homes house.  The Columbus Dispatch article about the Olentangy Falls neighborhood said of the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes participants:

"The parade, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio, offers a mix of builders, unlike the previous two parades, which were dominated by custom firms. Production builders such as M/I, Dominion, Fischer Homes and Rockford Homes, which owns the subdivision, sit next to custom builders, including New England Homes, Weaver Custom Homes and P&D Builders."

The New England Homes entry to the 2011 BIA Parade of Homes is the number one house as you come into the neighborhood.

The New England Homes 2011 parade house is sold, as are the overwhelming majority of homes in the Parade of Homes event this year.

New England Homes participated in the  BIA Parade of Homes in 2006, 2009 and 2010.  New England Homes was awarded "The Peoples Choice Award" at the BIA Parade of Homes  in 2006 and 2009.  I had an opportunity to see the New England Homes house this morning.  I think it is a "pleaser."  New England homes is a custom builder.

The 2006 BIA Parade of Homes was in southern Delaware County too.  I don't think I personally have photos of the New England Homes 2006 Parade of Homes  entry, The Gloucester but New England Homes site has photos of the 2006 Parade of Homes entry on their site (there is a link to the New England Homes site in the first paragraph.)

Olentangy Falls 2011 Parade of Homes

Olentangy Falls subdivision is the location of the 2011 Parade of Homes in Columbus Ohio. Olentangy Falls is located about 3 miles west of S. R. 23 on Hyatts road.

It is a beautiful community with most homes backing to mature trees. There are several walkout basement lots available and is located in the excellent rated Olentangy school district.
