Trulia likes lists. Recently a list on Trulia on Lorie Woodruff's Washington state blog about home buying was about "5 Things You Didn’t Know Could Get Your Home Sold"

The Worthingview neighborhood and Trader Joe's

Woodruff wrote "1. Your Neighborhood Trader Joe’s. Or Costco, or other outpost for daily living supplies that tends to have a rabid following. On a recent HuffingtonPost article about the Trader Joe’s grocery chain, one visitor left a comment to the effect that they selected their home largely based on its proximity to a Trader Joe’s! And buyer’s brokers will tell you - homebuyers’ eyes light up and they pay a much closer look to homes near Whole Foods, a local favorite coffeehouse or farmer’s market."

So does that mean a seller ought to move their house closer to Trader Joes' to sell?

Using a listing in Worthingview neighborhood - 1344 Snowmass Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235 to Trader Joe's. All directions are via car, the Worthingview neighborhood and much of the West Worthington area is considered "car dependent" according to Walk Score.

8 Minutes to Trader Joe's at Sawmill

Wait you are going right past Whole Foods to get to Trader Joe's. It's 7 Minutes to Whole Foods

The Closest grocery store to the Worthingview neighborhood is 2.2 minutes to the Kroger Store at Worthington Square. The Kroger in Worthington is a "Fresh Fare"

and only 2.3 minutes by car to Hills Market!

Costco... over near Polaris, in the Lewis Center area. I'll let you map it if you love Costco and want to venture there from the West Worthington area. Only 15 minutes? Surprising to me and so is the fastest route.

The latest Central Ohio foodie "you gotta visit location", The Market District at Kingsdale in Upper Arlington... is 19 minutes by way of Linworth Road, cut that to 16 minutes if you hop on 315.

Woodruff's list on Trulia mentioned farmers markets along with grocery stores. It's only 8 minutes by car going the W. Wilson Bridge to High Street route to the Worthington Farmers Market. It is 9 minutes via the Linworth Road route or the Olentangy River Road route... to the Worthington Farmer's Market.

Bike? Bike to the Worthington Farmers Market from the Worthingview neighborhood only 23 minutes with the Linworth Road route, Google's bicycling directions are still in beta.

Worthingview home prices

Worthingview neighborhood mls* listings - price range today is $154,900 to $299,900  with one home in contract priced at $399,900.  I don't believe the house that is "in-contract" (pending) says it is in Worthingview. That is not a mandatory field in the mls.    The link to virtually all homes in the mls listed as Worthingview will show current listings.  It will NOT what was on the market in April 2011.

$154,900 to $299,900 ...That's quite a price range huh?  Hint there is a bank owned home on the market in the Worthingview neighborhood... the home priced at $299,900 is on the same cul-de-sac as the home that is "in-contract" at $399,900.

The Worthingview neighborhood is in the Bluffsview Elementary School attendance area, also McCord Middle School and Worthington Kilbourne High School, in the Worthington City School District.  If a particular school or school district is important to you always check and double check what school district the property (any property) is located in with tax records.  Attendance areas within local school districts change year to year based on population.  I believe Worthingview has been Bluffsview Elementary since the school opened in the early 1990s.  Bluffsview Elementary is soooooo close to the Worthingview neighborhood.  The Worthingview neighborhood was built in the late 1970s so prior to Bluffsview being built the kids went to? Brookside?  Granby? Just guessing.

Again check and double check what schools an address goes to.   The Worthington City School District has attendance maps and a list by streets on their site.

Worthingview Open House -Thursday

a wonderful Worthingview neighbor

I had an open house yesterday in Worthingview, on a home that is not my listing. 

A nice neighbor chiseled the ice off the "walkway"  for the open house.

I usually put out open house signs early Sunday morning for the open house scheduled in the afternoon.

Once last year  (early in 2010) I had an open house scheduled (on the Real Living HER Open House List ) and I canceled it Sunday morning because the snow was NOT shoveled.  It was not my listing.

I had my listing on Snowmass Road in Worthingview open in January 2011 and shoveled the driveway for the open house.   It was my listing... It was Sunday morning...   I was happy to see the driveway and walkway on Snowmass cleared Sunday as we had a showing scheduled Saturday.

Anyway I had an open house yesterday in Worthingview, it was not my listing.  A neighbor came over and chipped the ice off the front walk.  We'd brought a snow shovel over in the morning but it was useless with the thick block of ice that was the front walkway.  When I made it  back for the Sunday afternoon open house I had "Ice Melt" but even generously pouring "Ice Melt"  on the walkway the ice would have been melted by about 4:00 at an open house scheduled for 2:00 to 4:00.

Thank God for the wonderful neighbor of the Worthingview home who used the perfect shovel for chiseling through that ice.

"Sellers, it's time to get out and shovel. 

• Clear the steps. 
• Clear the walkways. 
• Clear a path around the perimeter of your home. 
• Make sure the front entry is accessible and safe." 

I want to thank the Worthingview resident for his help. Another neighbor on Amol Lane came by during the open house to see the house for a friend.  She said the people on Amol Lane are like that.

Revolting Realtors  - the Realtors revolting against open houses do not want to hold an open house and do not want other real estate agent to hold open houses...

The houses pictured ARE not for sale...  the snow pictured is a snowfall in December 2010 not the icy stuff we had last week.  Groundhog says we are going to have an early spring in 2011...
