Question: A few months ago I hired a real estate agent to sell my home. The comps on the home are $345K and the county has it at $312K. I owe $259K. The second I signed a contract with my agent, he started hinting that I may have to bring $20K to closing to get the deal done. After months of no activity, I put down another $20K to bring the price of the house down. The second I did this... my agent started hinting that I still might have to bring some cash to the table. I wanted to fire him immediately. He is doing nothing, but hoping the internet will garner a sale for him. If so, a great commission, if not, who cares on his part. I get the sneaking suspicion that this is a scam to get a sister company to buy the house. I can't prove it, and he won't admit it, but I know he is the one who undercut me on a foreclosure that I asked him to help me acquire. It seems all legal because I can't prove his involvement. Does this sound normal due to hard times in real estate or is this guy up to something. My gut is really pulling at me on this one.
