Question: My husband and I have an accepted aggreement to purchase a home and the deal is set to close on July 31st. Everything is set to go, just waiting for closing day. Last night my husband decides that he no longer wants me to move into the new home. He would rather move in with his children and his father. Where does this leave me? I feel used and conned. He used me to get a home that he wanted and now I am on the new mortgage and responsible for assisting him with payments. If I say no, he refuses to pay the new mortgage and forces me into bankruptcy as well as himself. He has used this as a threat and I believe that he has no problem fulfiling this threat. What then are my options. Secondly, we did have our current home on the market but no bites. We decided to rent our home out and have a signed 1 year lease with a tenant. Since I cannot move into the new home, can I choose to stay in my home now (name on deed and mortgage is mine only), or must I move myself and 3 children out for a period of one year so I can honour the lease agreement.
