It's a Done Deal...Shag Walls and All!
Laurie Jarrett, REALTOR®, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Texas Real Estate services (Keller Williams Realty Heritage-New Braunfels)

My favorite part of the job is when my buyers' loan funds and I can give them the keys.  Today the title company called to say the loan had funded and I knew my clients couldn't wait another minute, so I told them to go get them!

By the time I arrived an hour and a half later, they had the locks changed and most of the carpets ripped up.  The house is a 1976 ranch in a desirable, established neighborhood close to New Braunfels High SchoolLanda Park and Panther Canyon. Locals describe the neighborhood as "on the hill"...as in we just bought a home "on the hill."  It has lots of square footage, an open floor plan, a large corner lot and deer...lots of deer. It needs tons of work, but they came ready for the challenge to put in some good 'ole sweat equity.

Here's the ranch rambler on the hill:

Carpets already ripped up!

Nathan was busy getting ready to turn this formal dining room into the 4th bedroom....equity!!!

Andrea was tearing up the green and teal carpet in what will be baby's room.

Blue bathroom with swinging "saloon" doors. Just a little added privacy there, hoss.

Here's a good look at the multi-colored carpet.

Even though the yellow counters are in good condition, they have future plans for the kitchen, too.

But the best part is the powder room with orange shag walls!

Reminds me of that move where Russell Brand cozies up with a fuzzy wall.  Awesome!

And, it's all theirs!  Shag walls and all!

Disclaimer: My client is the owner of New Braunfels Remodeling.  Don't try this yourself at home without the help of a professional.

H.E.B. Grand Opening in New Braunfels, Texas
Carl Winters

A Grand Opening tomorrow, July 29, 2010  in New Braunfels, Texas. I'm sure you'll see some new faces, but will also get to see many friends and neighbors. One more sign that we continue to grow.

                                                                   H.E.B. New Braunfels

H.E.B. will open the second H.E.B. in New Braunfels,Texas tomorrow. This is a great day, a nice new and big store with plenty of parking. Did you hear me....plenty of parking. It will be located at the intersection of Loop 337 and Hwy. 46. Walgreen's is right across the street and behind that The Scooter Store and right down the road is New Braunfels High School. Whew! This is going to be a busy intersection.

A little about the new H.E.B. store.

The 88,000-square-foot grocery store is opening in the WestPointe Village Shopping Center, where H-E-B will serve as the anchor tenant. Once fully staffed, the store will employ more than 250 people. Yhea! Jobs.

The New Braunfels store will offer area residents new store features, including a healthy living department that will sell organic fruits and vegetables, as well as specialty cheese and wine departments, and a tortilleria.

I know this is going to more convenient for us. We are glad to see another big retail store call New Braunfels Home.

I'm sure glad I didn't have to do a property inspection on this one.

June 14th - Fly your FLAG on Flag Day
Carl Winters

                                                            We are Proud Americans

Today the flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence and Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice.

My life flashed before my eyes in thirty seconds by Ceil Winters
Carl Winters

This hit me like a ton of bricks. It's Saturday morning, Carl had an inspection today and I just got back from the mail box. There it was...my Medicare Card...see I'll be 65 in December. The real live thing right before my eyes; it finally happened. My first thought was Yipee! My second thought was, Oh No! My third thought...well here goes....all the things that flashed before my eyes in less then thirty seconds.

                                                    My     Medicare Card

In the last few months I've been receiving emails from friends that say, "How time gets away from me". I will call soon, or we will have lunch soon or something or other. I'm just as guilty, it's call procrasitnation

Here is mishmash from some articles I have read these last several months. When was the last time you truly paused to take a deep breath or we have all heard, stopped to smell the fragrance of  a flower,   or watched the babies learn to flutter their little wings to prepare for that first flight. You may ask yourself, have you forgotten how? Some of us have also forgotten how to communicate without email. How to write a handwritten letter to a friend or a thank you note for a gift we received. It's easier to send an email or a text message (if you know how to text). Everyone is too busy learning to Blog, Tweet, and Chirp, new digital this and that, or learn how to use your new phone features. In the meantime you have been so busy keeping up you have forgotten how to take time to stop and smell the rose, make the pot roast from scratch. You may forgotten you have some nice golf clubs in the back of the closet but you have to go out and stimulate the economy and buy more. Then, we have a garage sale because you have too many. You have to stop by Bass Pro on your way home from your last home inspection, just to look, but just had to buy some hooks and a few items you really didn't need (again, help stimulate the economy).

Let me tell you my true feelings, now that I'm getting older and I received my Medicare card  in the mail saying that I've reach that moment in my life. Take time, smell the rose, make an effort to call a friend and talk live. If you have too much of something share it with someone and don't keep buying just for the sake of making yourself feel better. Buy something like a fan to give someone in need that cannot afford air condition. Work an hour or two at the Senior Center or drive someone to that next doctor appointment; spend time talking with some folks that may go weeks without someone to talk with. Buy a new pair of shoes for a child that may not get that new pair of shoes for the beginning of the school year.

Take time to enjoy life, enjoy your friends and family. Skip the gym and take your grandchild for ice cream or to a movie. Enjoy a day at the zoo. Try turning off your cell phone so you can have lunch without checking your messages and enjoy that lunch with a friend.

Every precious moment wasted is irreplaceable; every hour and day spent is time you will never get back. You can still continue with your emails, texting and blogging, that is  important, but take time to stop and smell that sweet flower, reflect on what is truly important. You don't want to wake up one morning and realize that some of those things that seemed important, truly could have been spent in a more productive way. Life is fast and funny and I hope you enjoy each and every day for the rest of your life. I know I will.

Make each day Special! Here's a bouquet to all my friends and family, present and future. Love, Ceil Winters
