Before streetlights were in existence, homeowners were required to have a working gas lantern in front of their home. Early residents report that walking down Waterview Drive in the evening was like going to Disneyland with beautiful soft lights glowing in front of each home. 

Today, the beauty of Waterview continues with on-going major improvements at homes all over the neighborhood.  Renovations, remodeling, landscaping and new additions have maintained the integrity of Waterview Drive as one of the premier neighborhoods in Richardson, just as the city planners had envisioned many years ago.
