Charlottesville Virginia is into day two of Snowmageddon.
Snow continues to fall with wind contributing to the deteriorated conditions. There is over a foot of snow on the ground with some sleet and freezing rain thrown in. Roads are treacherous, businesses are closed and much of the area is without power.

USPS announced that they were suspending mail delivery to NoVA, DC and parts of MD on Saturday. Their spokesperson announced that the continued blizzard conditions in the area has made this decision necessary.

According to figures released Thursday the city of Charlottesville real estate values have declined for the first time since the city government began keeping records. The 2010 assessments show that average values for existing residential properties in the city declined by 2.19 percent.

A two edge sword. Assessments are down, perhaps less taxes, home values down, perhaps less equity..... The average assessed value of Albemarle County homes has declined 3.96 percent in the last year which means lower tax bills for many residents if the county doesn’t raise its tax rate.
