SEAN & LINDY ON THE DOCK ENJOYING LAKE ANNA
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

Whenever Sean, my oldest grandchild, comes to be with us I lose my shadow.  Lindy, my pup, follows me from room to room whenever I am home.  However, once Sean arrives Lindy deserts me.  As much as I miss my shadow I love to see how happy and content they are together.  Sean is definitely an animal lover and Lindy senses that.

Naturally, when Sean spends some time down by the water, Lindy is right there with her. I caught this picture of the two of them while I was up at the house. In order to get such a closeup I had to zoom and crop but I got what a wanted.

SEAN & LINDY ON DOCK

 Sean and Lindy

You may have noticed the camera case on the dock. That belongs to Sean and is never very far from her side.  Taking photos of Lake Anna is one of her favorite things to do and everytime she is with us out it comes. Being a photography buff myself it gives me a lot of joy to see some of my grandchildren enjoying it as much as I do.

For anyone that loves the water and loves photography, Lake Anna is a wonderful place to be.  The lake and the big sky over it are ever changing as is the landscape.  Getting out on our Tritoon provides me with numerous opportunitites to take loads of pictures.

It's Time to Go Shopping for Your Lake Anna Home
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

It's time to go shopping for your Lake Anna home.  Are you thinking that perhaps it is too early in the year to be thinking of all the fun you can have with your own lake house?  It is never too early to get started.  Perhaps you will be one of the fortunate ones that finds just the right spot soon after you begin your search.  That would be wonderful but perhaps it will take a couple of months entailing a few trips to the lake to view available homes.

Lake Anna Waterfront HouseNo matter how long or how quickly the search takes, once it is done you will still need additional time to get to settlement.

Getting to settlement means that you have had necessary inspections done, gotten your loan application completed if financing is required, an opportunity to receive and read through the Property Owners Association packet, and all of the other necessary preparations for ownership.  Generally we allow approximately six weeks to close.

Once you close on the property of your choice the real exciting times begin.

Having a home at Lake Anna, whether it is a full time residence or a vacation home, is a passport to another life.  Time spent here can be full of both fun and relaxation.  Even after 20 years living here full time I must admit that I continue to have my share of both.

If you have spent any time thinking about how much you would love a place here at Lake Anna let me know and I will help you turn that thought into a reality.  We have a good inventory of waterfront and off water (access) homes as well as undeveloped land both on and off the water if you would prefer to build now or sometime in the future.

Lake Anna is here.  Why aren't you?

At Lake Anna...An Office with a View
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

Lake Anna an office with a view is the next best thing to a home with a view of the lake.  Fortunately I am lucky to have both.  Since returning to Dockside Realty over two years ago I've had the opportunity to work from an office with a view of Lake Anna.  My office is at the back of our building and looks out at the lake by the bridge which crosses the water by Rt. 208.  The office itself is located next to High Point Marina so as I look out the window I often see boats being launched or folks coming back from spending some time out on the water fishing, water skiing, tubing, or simply cruising.

Dockside Realty is strategically designed so that when prospects walk in they look through the glass door and side windows out to a converted area that is now my office.  It has windows across the exterior wall that fronts onto the lake.  Not only does this provide me with plenty of sunshine it also provides me with some beautiful winter sunsets.

View from My Office at Dockside Realty, Lake Anna, VA

At this time of the year we are seeing early sunsets.  That means there are days that I am still in the office. I took these photos on one of those days.  The sky began to turn a beautiful shade of pinkish orange and continued until it became even more vivid.

View from My Office at Dockside Realty, Lake Anna, VA

In minutes the subtle shades had turned to a more vivid orange yellow that filled the sky and turned the lake into liquid gold.

The wonderful thing about the sunsets at Lake Anna is that we have the added benefit of not only the sky turning beautiful colors so does the water.  It certainly is a bonus that I appreciate.

Wouldn't you love to have a view of Lake Anna?  Some people prefer sunrises to sunsets.  Either way you will have an opportunity to enjoy similar scenes. If this is something you would like to have, a call to me will begin the process.  Let's begin!

Barn Raising vs. LAKE ANNA Boat Shelter Raising
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

In farm country there is such a thing as "barn raising".  Well, at Lake Anna we have our own thing.  It is called "boat shelter raising" and right now we have one going up at our waterfront.  It has been fun to watch.  Actually it was fun deciding on what I wanted...EVERYTHING.  That's not really accurate.  I don't want everything but I certainly do want a dock that will be large enough for big family gatherings.  In our family that can easily number 20+ so it best have run enough for that.

Our old dock was not adequate and has not been for years.  What has taken so long for us to finally get around to doing something?  I really can't think of a good reason.  The years have flown by and my ideas of what I wanted changed over the course of that time.

Then this summer I was not as busy with real estate as I usually am during our prime time.  Instead of becoming overly concerned I decided to make good use of my free time to finalize plans and hire someone to make my desire become a reality.  Certainly my husband, Jim, was involved.  At least involved as much as he wanted to be and that amounted to rubber stamping my ideas.  Hopefully he wil enjoy the end product as much as I'm sure I will.

The first step was to get some prices.  Although we had the funds I wanted to be sure we got the best product possible.  That meant getting one of theLake Anna boat shelter...first deliveryLake Anna boat shelter...week one premier boat dock builders on Lake Anna.  I had tried getting in touch with Jeff Remmer, of Lakeside Improvements, previously by leaving a phone message.  I may have even done that a couple of times over the years but had not heard back.  Knowing that Jeff is extremely busy, this time I sent an email.  Quick response.  Lucky us.

Not only did Jeff understand what we wanted and how to go about making that happen, he provided us with a price that was very appealing. Knowing that we were going to get a quality boat shelter at a reasonable price proved how lucky we were.

Now things are moving right along.  Here is one of the first photos I took.  Of course I had to take one on the first day we received a delivery.  Everything starts slowly and I have to be patient but I'm so excited I couldn't wait until we began to see some actual construction.

Although we had to wait until the following Monday for construction to begin, once it started quite a bit was accomplished that first week.

Naturally that called for more photos.  Now this is the view we see from our house.  We like what we see.  True we're seeing a bit less lake but as my daughter said, we'll simply have to spend more time down on the dock.  That's certainly something we fully expect to do.

Of course we are busy planning a "Boat Shelter Warming Party".  As I told my daughter-in-law, Lori, I'm checking the Farmer's Almanac for a good, good day.  Yes, fall is showing up at Lake Anna but that only means we might have a glorious, colorful day at the lake when the family gets together to "warm" the new dock.

I'll be reporting on progress as we move along.

Living at Lake Anna enables us to turn many of our dreams into reality.  This is one more example.  If you have similar dreams for your life please let me know.  If Lake Anna can help you realize some of your dreams I'll be more than happy to help you find the right spot to pursue them.

LOVING LAKE ANNA...Once Again
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

Loving Lake Anna...once again.  I don't know if I ever thought, 20 years ago when we moved down here, that I would love Lake Anna as much as I do.  For a perso that had never spent more than eight years in one home it amazes me that I have had such a sense of contentment being in one place for so long.  Having lived in nine states, Washington D.C, plus Puerto Rico, Italy and Somalia I've always thought that moving was an adventure.

Yet, now I never seem to tire of driving in the countryside that surrounds Lake Anna.  Crossing the numerous bridges that span the lake in various locations I never cease to soak in the sights.  Although we do not have any permanent traffic lights here for well over a year now we have had a temporary light on the main bridge across the lake.  Going from west to east sometimes results in a wait on the bridge for a green light.  This time never bores me.  I soak up the sights.  Sometimes that means just looking at nothing but water and the shorelines.  That's fine with me.

Other times it means I see somethings that moves me to pick up my camera which is often on the passenger seat.  That's exactly what I did one day recently.

Sail Boat on Lake Anna, VA

This is precisely why I do not mind when I see a red as I approach the traffic light.  Instead I enjoy myself even more.  It gives me a lot of satisfaction to take even one more photo that captures Lake Anna life.  Sometimes I wonder if I ever will become jaded and take these things for granted.  I hope not.  In fact I doubt it very much.

Perhaps you will feel the same way if you have the opportunity to live here.  If you would like to explore that possibility I would love to help you.  Simply contact me and we will get started.

MORE FUN AT LAKE ANNA, VIRGINIA
Kate Elim, Realtor® 540-226-1964 Selling Homes & Land at LAKE ANNA (Dockside Realty)

Having fun at Lake Anna is easy.  Here's one more way to do it.  Although as much as I like the idea of spending some time on a house boat I must admit that having a home here is even better.  Fortunately there are plenty of homes on the market in a wide range of prices.

We have homes that are off water.  We often refer to these as access homes.  As the name conveys, although these homes may not be waterfront they do have access to the lake.  Many of these homes have boat slips assigned to them for their exclusive use which makes going out for a ride or to do a bit of fishing much easier than having to trailer a boat all of the time.

LAKE ANNA, VIRGINIAo

Waterfront homes are another option.  Yes, they are not floating along but they either have or can have docks that provide lots of space out on the water.  They are great places to do exactly what you see the folks doing up on the roof of this house boat.

Whichever type of home or undeveloped land you are interested in we can find for you.  Be sure to give me a call or send me a message via email and we can start the process.

There's still time to enjoy Lake Anna and just think of all the years ahead.  Get started now.
