According to a recent report, East Wenatchee was ranked number 8 of 75 cities based on crime reports. This is a big improvement from the previous year when they were ranked 18.Across the Columbia River, Wenatchee was ranked 31 while bigger cities like Seattle came in near the bottom at 71.The report, from Safewise, is based on crime data reported to the FBI. 03/30/2021

East Wenatchee Home Inspector finds Termites!   While performing a home and pest inspection in East Wenatchee home I came upon a colony of subterranean termites. As a pest inspector I always enjoy the finding of causes of an issue I notice during the home inspection. This is not always the case. During the inspection while evaluating the front room of the home I was aware of some sponginess in part of the floor. I suspected some type of structural damage but was unsure of the cause.  You have to make notes of areas of concern to make sure to evaluate that area thoroughly from all possible sides.   It is now time to enter crawlspace. I was informed last week that I won a pricing contest.Late last summer my business partner and I were out on our weekly (new listings) tour when we came across an old farmhouse in East Wenatchee built in 1909.  It was kind of a cool old house with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 2432 square feet of living space and sat on a decent sized lot (.34 acres).  It had been updated, but not overly so.  It was comfortable but not fancy.The listing agent was having a pricing contest.  It was listed at $289,900 and she wanted us to put our business card in a bowl, with our guess at what the home would ultimately "close" at.  The winner would get a gift certificate to the local restaurant of their choice.I don't know what the other agents were guessing but I put $245,000 on my card and entered the contest... 01/27/2008

I last reported on the homes for sale and sold activity in the Briarwood subdivision in East Wenatchee in early August of last year.  Briarwood is one of the most popular neighborhoods in East Wenatchee and homes sell fairly quickly there.  Last year homes sold within 30 - 150 days from the listing date.  Generally speaking, the higher the price the longer the days-on-market period.  Just as a point of interest, for the homes listed with "Briarwood" street addresses, the higher the number, the higher the elevation and the better the view.  Briarwood runs from west to east up the hill.  The other streets (Holly, Hannah, Huntwood, Harrington and Clarissa) mostly run north and south and views are not as prominent.Here is a list of the 3 current active listings of homes for sale in Briarwoo... 01/16/2008
