On my way back to Seattle from Yakima Thursday I needed a break and pulled into Ellensburg for a timeout. As a fan of CWU (Central Washington State University) I took a little memorial drive around the campus and stopped in at the local (been there forever) Dairy Queen. I’m sitting in the corner eating my cheeseburger fries and sipping a Pepsi thinking about the past few days in Yakima and enjoying the stream of college kids coming in for an afternoon treat.  Isn't it ironic I find myself here just now, the old guy in the room who happens to be the dude who's work is all about the evolving social media environment, but my iPhone is in my pocket. I spent the last few days talking to clients that were mostly my age and some were more than skittish about adopting social media platforms as ...

I was looking through my statistics for my posts and found something very interesting.  The top number of views and clicks from the posts I have made came from my outside local blog. And the numbers were not even close.  My blog titled Schools in Ellensburg Washington has the most views with just at 400 with nearly 300 clicks. Somebody has been looking at my outside blog.......hmmm.                                                                           Of course I have never had a featured blog, I am sure that is purely political, but still, don't know what kind of views and clicks a featured blog would produce, but the second highest views and clicks come from my outside blog too.  Hiking the Ridge trail near Ellensburg WA has nearly as many views with over 380 views.  And third hig...

Thank you Active Rain for my education over the last nearly 10 months.  I say education because I have learned many things about the real estate industry by reading and being involved with AR.  Where else would a person get this type of detailed information about issues effecting the entire industry?  Knowledgeable professionals take their time to share in-depth insight that I would venture to say can not be found anywhere else.  When I have a question about a real estate related item I type the item into the search on AR and usually get multiple past posts on the issue. I signed up for my AR account on the 31st of January this year.  I had written a couple things previous to that on Real Talk which I was introduced to via the E-Pro course.  Today I have 100 comments received from my bl...

Radio Hill in Ellensburg Washington is a quiet, lovely neighborhood.  There are very few through streets on Radio Hill which keep traffic to a minimum, giving Radio Hill a flavor of days gone by.  Radio Hill gets its name from, you guessed it, the radio station. KXLE radio station is located on Radio Hill.  KXLE provides both AM and FM radio to the Kittitas Valley. There are a variety of homes on Radio Hill in Ellensburg.  This unique custom built home is the taken care of with pride by the owners. There are a mixture of types of homes on Radio Hill.  I want to share with you just some of the gorgeous homes you will see on Radio Hill.  I hope you enjoy the tour. Don't you just love the brick work on this Radio Hill home? What a nice addition to the neighborhood. Well manicured lawns and...

The City of Ellensburg maintains several quality parks in Ellensburg Washington.  Many of the parks in Ellensburg are home to sporting events such as soccer and softball, but they are equally enjoyed by folks who want to spend some time with friends and family in a beautiful outdoor environment.   The flagship of all parks in the City of Ellensburg is Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park.  Known by locals as Carey Lake, the 117 acre facility is very popular in summer time as a good place to cool off in one of the lakes, and for its family friendly atmosphere.  Follow Unptanum Rd. west from Canyon Rd about 1.5 miles, follow blacktop drive approximately 3/4 of a mile to parking lot.   Pictured above: Carey Lake in Ellensburg, Washington.  Picnicking and playing on the expansive grass area, alon...

Craig's Hill in Ellensburg Washington is a wonderful neighborhood to drive through on a summer drive, or in which to spend a lifetime living in one of the classic homes which grace Craig's Hill.  I want to take you on a picture tour of some of the outstanding homes and interesting features on Craig's Hill.  I hope you enjoy the photos. Craig's Hill is considered to be the area bordered by 1st Avenue to the south, Chestnut Street to the west the Ellensburg Rodeo Grounds to the north and some open space land which makes up the border to the east.   Legend has it that this was to be the Governor's Mansion at one point.  Ellensburg had been slated to become the capital of Washington.  Olympia ultimately became the capital and Ellensburg became home to Central Washington State College, which...

Going to Umptanum Falls in Ellensburg Washington is a nice way to spend part of an afternoon.  Umptanum Falls spill over with the waters of Umptanum Creek in an larger area called the Wenas.  They are a great example of the beauty that can be found around Ellensburg.  Pictured above are my wife and myself at Umptanum Falls.  It is a pleasant surprise when you get to the falls, I say surprise because the falls are located in a remote desert area near Ellensburg Washington.  It is about a 20-25 minute drive to the Department of Wildlife designated parking area and trail head for Umptanum Falls.  The terrain on the drive to the falls is sagebrush and the road turns to gravel about half way there.  If you did not know Umptanum Falls were there, you would almost not believe it. Pictured abov...

Sanders Mill in Ellensburg Washington is simply the nicest, best thought out and best designed subdivision in Ellensburg Washington.  The developer has maintained stringent standards for the homes and amenities. Pictured below is a working water driven mill wheel that was custom manufactured for installation on the business office in Sanders Mill.  Pictured above is a view showing the charming landscape in front of two of the homes in Sanders Mill.  The project has been under development for several years.  The homes from the earlier phases of the project naturally have more mature landscape.  The developer uses many different floor plans ranging from approximately 1500-2500 square feet and all are completed with uniform fencing and professional landscaping. The development is fit and f...

One of the premiere destination outdoor activities in our area is Yakima River fly fishing near Ellensburg, Washington. The Yakima River is a "Blue Ribbon Fishery" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Ribbon_fisheries considered to be the best in the State. Drift fishing boats with the use of fly rods are the primary tools for accessing spots like the one pictured above. I wonder if there is a trophy lunker hanging in the pool on that current rip. The Yakima river is strictly catch and release. Talented taxidermists can create a acrylic mount for you with proper measurements and pictures, you would never know it was not the real thing. Here is a picture of the boat launch at City Of Ellensburg "Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park" You can leave a pick-up vehicle here to drive back to your launc...

Grasslands in Ellensburg, Washington, is a premier Ellensburg neighborhood. Grasslands was originally designed as an equestrian community. When Grasslands was first offered to homeowners in the 1970's it offered property owners large lots, commonly 2 acres along with horse riding trails along the road borders. Prices for a generous home with nice amenities were in the 40's and 50's. Pictured above: The landscape is mature in the original development, although this home is brand new. It was just built as a replacement for an older home which was on this same site. The owners did a wonderful job, it is simply beautiful. Pictured above: Here is a classic home in Grasslands which is extremely well maintained with pride by the owners. The huge lot is manicured to a point where any gardener w...
