Gig Harbor Wind, Water, and Snow?

gig harbor floodThis has been a crazy 12 hours here in Gig Harbor. We have seen rain, wind, floods, and we have possible snow in the forecast for this evening. I’m not sure Gig Harbor can take anymore abuse today. It all started last night around 10:00pm when the wind started to pick up with a cold front that was moving through. As usual with great consistency the temperature soared significantly while the wind howled most of the night. I woke up around 3:30am to my power out, but thank goodness it was only for a short period of time. The Gig Harbor winds were still a blowing when I woke up this morning at 6:00am.

I had to leave to go to the gym and on my way there were several limbs and small trees down all over Gig Harbor. Our area is full of large trees and it is always scary to know that we have a wind storm approaching here in Gig Harbor. As I drove on there were several stop lights out as well and I’m glad to know that everyone obeyed the four stop rule when that happens here in Gig Harbor.

I ended my workout and when I came home checked out what was going on around the rest of Gig Harbor and I couldn’t believe to hear that downtown was flooding! Due to the high tide in Downtown Gig Harbor and the amount of rain we have had the harbor was actually rising above its banks. I am so sad for some local businesses and homes that suffered damage from this strange phenomenon. Meanwhile in Gig Harbor the wind continued to blow.

At last as the sun is shining outside right now, I see that the extended forecast calls for cold and possible snow for tonight into early tomorrow morning. Hold on to your britches Gig Harbor it’s about to get crazy out there for the next couple. But the good news is if you want warmth and comfort that might come to you on Friday! December 21, 2012! Just kidding… Couldn’t resist throwing that in there!

So if Gig Harbor wind, water, and snow are your cup of tea you’ll be just fine.

How To Hire A General Contractor In Gig Harbor
Ryland Taniguchi (The Ryco Group Keller Williams)

Here are some tips for your home improvement real estate projects for our local Gig Harbor area.

1) Beware of Craigslist Contractors.   Most of the scam artists in Gig Harbor find you through Craigslist.

2) Quality Knows Quality.  The key to finding quality contractors is to ask reputable sources such as going to your local huge tile supplier, local master builders association, or your local hardware store.  In contrast, if you hire one bad contractor, they will hiring very poor subcontractors.

3) Check their license and bonding info.   Some scam artists will use the license and bonding of another contractor; make sure the person you are talking to is licensed and bonded by checking here.

4) Compare bids. Always get three bids for every job, but don’t take the lowest bid.  Take the middle bid.  The saying “you get what you pay for” is usually true.  Quality trumps price every single time.

5) Call a reputable realtor such as myself (206.745.2730) who has relationships with top-notch contractors.

My name is Rachel Badgett and I am your real estate professional for the Gig Harbor area.  Our buyer specialist Rob Darling lives right in the heart of Gig Harbor.  For more info about real estate contact Rachel Badgett at 206.745.2730 or email info@kwlisting.com.

You gotta love Social Media. Someday's it's just magical, like today.

What a great Friday... a perfect way to wind up the week. I'm headed over the Narrows Bridge this morning to spend the day with Amy Kalafatich (my coworker at The Talon Group) in Gig Harbor, one of my favorite towns in the Pacific Northwest.

You gotta love Social Media. Someday's it's just magical, like today.

We started the day off at Borders Books for a meet and coffee with Matt Morgan, Windermere Real Estate Gig Harbor. Matt and I found each other on Twitter and have been tweetin' back and forth for a couple of months or so.

And now we're here sitting across the table from each other talking up a storm like we've known each other forever...

Thanks Matt, I missed the photo-opp, (coffee hadn't kicked in yet for the social media marketing opportunity) but what a wonderful conversation we had this morning. We connected. You so got it right! Trust the FORCE! You are so on the right course...

I so depend on Amy (of course), and what's next...

Cool... FOOD. It's lunch time! We're headed for the Pizzeria Fondi, Gig Harbor. I was here a few months back in summer. I totally know what I want... That wonderful flat bread hot and fresh out of the oven with garlic, side cheeses, artichoke, red sauce, and a salad! AWESOME!

I promise I won't get too close and hit you with my GARLIC breath. But be for warned, I am from old stock, we love our garlic.

Ah! Too Funny... Another online friend, Stacia Whatley from Hawkins-Poe Real Estate in Gig Harbor. We're friends on Activerain.com

What absolutely great company to have lunch with and such great fun! We're talking about everything... then dang we run out of time...

"When you're having fun, it passes so quickly."

Two great examples of ROI... we met online and now we're here talking across the table in person.

How cool is that?

Don't forget, you didn't leverage anyone to be here. You just simply responded or initiated the possibility of a conversation and it brought you here...

That's how the magic works...

Thanks Matt, Stacia, and Amy... for a wonderful day in the Harbor...

"Where there's conversation, there's opportunity."
