Where is St. George Island???
St. George Island is a barrier island off the coast of northwest Florida, in the panhandle of the state. St. George is accessible by a 7 mile long bridge, and has a self-serve airstrip as well, for small planes. This section of Florida is very rural, with only one traffic light in the entire county, no freeways, no highrises, and no shopping malls. The nearest WalMart is 90 miles away.
You figure out after living here for a while that if you can't find it at the Dollar General or the Piggly Wiggly, you don't really need it. Or at least you can wait until next week, when someone is going to "town."
We're 90 miles or so from a commercial airport, in either Panama City or Tallahassee.
Why do we live here, and why do people buy property here? Because it has some of the most gorgeous beaches in Florida. Density is low, the emphasis is on quiet living, nature, and doing your own thing.
Areas of Expertise
My specialty is resort property on St. George Island, and historic homes in the small town of Apalachicola, on the mainland. St. George features homes for sale from $200,000 to over $3,000,000, and lots from $60,000 and up. Beachfront property is available in 1/3rd to 1 acre lots, and smaller acreage is available in the very center section of the island designated as commercial.
In Apalach, I specialize in historic homes close to the bay, neighborhoods within walking or golf cart distance from downtown. Apalach has some beautifully elegant and eclectic shopping, no chains, all small businesses. The seafood industry is a major life force all along the coast, and you can buy fresh seafood at a number of retail outlets, right off the boats.
Apalach homes run from $60,000 on up to $800,000 asking prices for some of the large restored Victorian homes in the historic district.
We have building lots for sale in all the small communities along this part of the coast - it's just a matter of choosing the place that is for you, and then looking for the best deal.
I work primarily with buyers, and specialize in finding the perfect match between buyer and home, regardless of who has the property listed for sale.
Turtles and Referrals
My volunteer work on St. George Island is all about sea turtles. We have the most active population of sea turtles along the panhandle of Florida, and I belong to a group of volunteers who do dawn patrols during nesting season, May through October. We each have a mile or so of beach that we are responsible for monitoring. We record new nests each morning, and any nests that have hatched out during the night.
It is fascinating work, and the beauty of working with these wonderful creatures compliments my work in real estate - it is so easy to fall in love with this place!
i would say it sells itself, but nothing in real estate does that these days!
I have a roster of happy buyer clients I would be happy to give as references - just ask me.
