About Us:

Safe Haven Home Inspections is a locally owned and operated inspection business that is based out of Pierce County, Washington.  A quality and timely inspection is a major key in maintaining the reputation that Safe Haven Home Inspections has worked years to build and maintain.

While based out of Pierce County, I inspect throughout Western Washington at the same price and fee structure.  If you have an inspection need, I can usually arrange a 24 hour turn-around.  If you have any questions or would like to book an inspection, I am available at 253 241-0602 from 8:00am to 10:00pm, daily.

I founded Safe Haven Home Inspections after decades of remodeling and upgrading single-family homes.  I have worked on every major component of a house while installing or repairing them for a family enterprise.   From sweating pipes to pulling wire, installing drywall to hardwood floors, it has been a hands-on learning experience that allowed me to develop my expertise in residential construction and inspection.

The inspection business is an ever-changing industry.  Building materials and methods of construction are evolving on a regular basis.  In order to stay abreast with the latest materials and methods, I regularly attend continuing education classes, whether it is for information on carpenter ants or plumbing, roofing or the newest electrical components.

I normally limit myself to a single client per day.  Trying to rush through numerous inspections in a single day does not allow me to spend the personal time with my client that they deserve.  It also makes it easier for a client to schedule their personal matters knowing that I will be there on their schedule.  After all, they are paying for the inspection.  I only have one requirement for scheduling.  That is the need for at least 2 hours of daylight during the inspection.

I will issue a report usually on the same day as the inspection.  The initial report is sent via email to the client.  It is a full report with all the information necessary to make an educated decision on the property.  A copy of the report on CD, along with a hard copy of the Pest Report is sent via US Mail, usually the following day.  If there are any questions the client has, I will gladly discuss them to their satisfaction.  I will take business calls until 10:00pm nightly.

Areas of Expertise

I attended and am certified by ITA (Inspection Training Associates) one of the largest and most respected Home Inspector Training Companies in the country and run by Kaplan University.

I have completed training and received my Structural Pest Inspectors License from the Washington State Department of Agriculture. (License #71043).  This requires continuing education classes prior to renewal of your license.  There are many “home inspectors” that are not following the guidelines set down by the State of Washington in regards to being licensed as a Structural Pest Inspector.  In order to report on Wood Destroying Organisms (WDO), Wood Destroying Insects (WDI) or conditions conducive to these items, an inspector MUST be licensed by the Washington State Department of Agriculture.  Remember to ask your inspector for his license number.  Mine is WSDA #71043 and can be verified at this site.  My prices include a WSDA Pest Report.

I am also a member of the Washington State Pest Control Association.  This organization leads the State in training and updating the Pest and Home Inspection industries with the latest information necessary to perform a proper inspection.

I am a member of NACHI, the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors and have passed their rigorous testing and continuing education requirements.  There are many home inspection associations throughout the United States.  To be honest, they are no different than political parties.  They don’t like each other.  They disagree on just about everything.  They will almost always talk bad about the “other” organization.  Quite frankly, I don’t care.  I go about my business working for my client to the best of my abilities.  I don’t care to join in with the name calling and bad-mouthing.

I follow the National Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as defined by NACHI.
