Testimonials
Gwen & Greg Miller, new owners at Golden Eagle Lodge, wrote: Hi Kate: I just wanted to thank you for your assistance in the Golden Eagle Lodge transaction. Gwen and I have moved a lot and have bought/sold about 10 properties, and I have to say, I think this one was the most painless and best prepared." Waterville Valley Realty broker Kate Wheeler would love to help you find a mountain home that fits your lifestyle. Contact Kate directly at kate@wvnh.com, or call her toll-free at 1-888-987-8333.
Peggy & Frank McGrane: When we were dating way back in 1976, we came to the Valley to ski and really enjoyed ourselves. We soon purchased a 1-bedroom condo at Windsor Hill. The years passed and kids came along, so we purchased a 3-bedroom condo at Windsor Hill. We found ourselves spending more and more time in the Valley. Our family would move up to the Valley for the summers while Dad stayed in Massachusetts during the work week. We all enjoyed hiking, fishing, biking, tennis and golfing while taking in the magnificent views of the mountains all around us. You can't help but feel so relaxed here. We always had a romantic notion of trying to live in the Valley, but it always remained just that - a romantic notion. In 2001, we thought it was time to try to fulfill our lifelong dream. Our daughter, Courtney, was heading off to college and our son, Kevin, needed a little more attention than his crowded Massachusetts classroom could offer. We fell in love with a house on Rey Lane and negotiated a P&S in August 2001. All was going according to plan - until September 11th. Like all Americans, we were devastated. Financially, the stock market and the housing markets were in turmoil. We seriously considered backing out of the purchase. But, 9/11 also reinforced just how precious life is and how quickly things can change. Undaunted, we went ahead with the purchase of our new home and could not be happier with our decision. Our son is in the 6th grade at Waterville Valley Elementary School and is thriving with the one-on-one attention. Our entire family is enjoying a much more active and close knit lifestyle than we had in Massachusetts. We know our neighbors and they know us! If you possess a "romantic notion" like we did, act on it. Life is short. Our only regret is that we did not do it sooner!
The Cross Family--Mountain Sun Quarters Owners: As a vacation home, Mountain Sun Quarters has been perfect for our family. It’s been a vacation home without the constant worry and concern about upkeep and maintenance. We’ve also enjoyed the affiliation with RCI* (Resort Condominiums International), annually traveling to places such as Hawaii, Europe, the Caribbean, Florida, Williamsburg, VA, and Sunday River, Maine. We have created family memories in Waterville Valley—as well as internationally! It’s been a joy! * Note: Mountain Sun Quarters is affiliated with Resort Condominiums International (RCI), and has been awarded the Gold Crown Resort designation! The Cross family, and other quarters’ owners have the option of joining RCI and enjoying the benefits of trading any number of their 13 weeks of ownership at Mountain Sun Quarters for accommodations at thousands of RCI resorts worldwide!
Tom and Carol H.: In the late 70s, when we were living in Hingham, MA, we read an article in the paper offering a weekend in Waterville Valley, NH for $25. We said "Why not?" So, with good friends we headed north. It was a fabulous weekend and we thought, "What a great place to live!" In the late 80s, after yearly ski vacations in several New Hampshire and Maine locations, we rented a condo at Mountain Meadow for one week. This was our first return visit to Waterville Valley since the 70s and we fell in love all over again with the "magic of the valley." So, we took a plunge and purchased a quartershare at Mountain Sun. After greatly enjoying our 'one every four week' adventure, we decided to take another plunge and in 1989 (we'd love to say the 90s) purchased a condo at Northface. Two years ago we became permanent residents in Waterville Valley. Tom is still working full-time as an independent consultant. That provides an opportunity for business trips for the both of us. Boston is close, but Manchester Airport definitely beats Logan. We still experience the same thrill returning home to Waterville Valley…when we take Exit 28 off the interstate and turn onto Route 49…it is like coming back to paradise. Living in Waterville Valley is like living in a big neighborhood where walking down to get the mail can easily take an hour or more - so many neighbors and friends to chat with. Attending the school concerts and special events, graduation, town clean-up day, to name a few can easily fill up your social calendar. Waterville Valley is about its people…people of all ages. Owning property here offered us the opportunity to see the Valley in the four seasons…and each season became special in its unique beauty. Life is full of choices. We love our choice to live here.
Gene & Katie C.--Owners of a Forest Knoll Condominium: We were attracted by the architecture of Forest Knoll and the setting, with its balsams, birch, fir and pine trees creating the perfect foreground to the mountains of the White Mountain National Forest. The fresh air of the Waterville Valley area can't be bought, only taken pleasure from, as it is protected for miles from the ordinary commercial enterprises that spoil the pristine beauty of nature. Yet, Waterville Valley has all the sports' activities and more of any resort community. Forest Knoll is our summer place, and it is our children's and grandchildren's wintertime fun place, but all of the conveniences of living in our own home. We couldn't recommend Forest Knoll more.
Jeffrey Smith--Black Bear Lodge owner since 1986: I came to Waterville Valley to learn how to ski in the winter of 72/73. By the end of that first season I was hooked on the sport and the Valley. I liked the way the ski area terrain was laid out, as well as the people in the Valley. As each year passed by I wanted to own a condominium in Waterville Valley. Construction began on the Black Bear Lodge in 1986. The concept of a condominium hotel appealed to me as a single person. There is an onsite innkeeper and staff, and owners have the ability to rent their unit when they're not using it. So, in 1988 I purchased a unit. I have had 14 years of enjoying the Valley and its people, skiing, hiking, and using the various activities available, and the opportunity to just get away from normal day-to-day life to rest.
The Kaplan Family: Having never been to Waterville Valley before, we came here for a family reunion on the reference of a friend. During our one-week stay we fell in love with the Valley and all that it had to offer. We all enjoyed hiking, fishing, biking and golfing while taking in the magnificent views of the mountains all around us. You can't help but feel so relaxed here. We returned in the winter and had a great time skiing and snowboarding. Waterville Valley is such a safe, wonderful family place, which we knew we'd keep coming back to. For that reason we recently purchased a unit at the brand new Presidential Townhouses right in the heart of Waterville Valley. Being so close to the charming Town Square and in walking distance to everything was perfect for our family. We are thrilled with our beautiful new "home away from home" and look forward to spending lots of time for many years in Waterville Valley.
