Care tasks. Not chores. Not jobs. Not responsibilities. Not obligations. Care tasks. This is how KC Davis, a licensed professional counselor, in her meditative, tranquil, tender affirmation of and plea for self-care (and family-care by extension) How to Keep House While Drowning, reframes our day-to-day efforts. The activities which sustain us such as laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, brushing our teeth, activities which are sometimes excruciatingly overwhelming for anyone. Take away the miserable, punitive moralizing around perfection, around all or nothing, around defective, destructive, antediluvian expectations. Just do what you can when you can. But there's much more to her concept. Please read it. Many of my clients recommend this book. It is pearlescent.

Did you just close a tough sale? Did you just list a fantastic home? Did you just close out a record-breaking month? That's wonderful! Give yourself a few minutes to celebrate that success - and perhaps even give yourself a little reward.  But then... then get back to work.  “Take your victories, whatever they may be, cherish them, use them, but don’t settle for them.” —Mia Hamm Wishing you joy and prosperity, Marte

Tuesday, March 26th, I was given the pleasure of doing my presentation of  our non-profit large animal rescue sanctuary, On Golden Rescue , to about 20 "Zoomer Regulars" (my nickname for the AR members who faithfully show up every week) and were willing to listen to my offbeat powerpoint presentation. This came about as a collaboration between Patricia Feager gently nudging me back into the Rain and Eileen Burns offering to do my powerpoint while I waxed philosophic about our amazing animals! We currently have a total of 20 equines, minis, mini donkeys and goats on our 14AC ranch that will live with us forever. Many stories were shared about them and great questions from several of the members came up. Also, terrific suggestions to improve OGR's  future presentations! For example, Willia...

The last two weeks have been beyond busy (10-12 hours days plus) and my morning discipline of posting to Active Rain has taken a back seat to meeting real estate commitments along with some personal commitments. My first revisited learned lesson is sometimes one must prioritize one’s actions and recognize there are only 24 hours in a day. This first revisited discipline lesson has been experienced in the past and I know will again surface in the future.Looking forward to the next four weeks, the real estate activity will continue to be very full from listings to managing the existing real estate transactions in escrow. My second revisited discipline lesson is not to have regrets about not adhering to a specific discipline. Regrets are counter productive because regrets are about the past...

A few years ago, I read Hal Elrod's The Miracle Morning.   While I will refrain from getting into a deep review, the premise of the book is if you wake up every day and do the following, you will be happier, more focused, healthier, and more successful.   Here are the steps:1. Silence (meditation if you choose)2. Affirmations3. Visualization4. Exercise5. Reading6. Writing (Journal about what you are grateful for, now)In short, this book has helped me personally lose a lot of weight, have greater focus on goals, I now read 20+ books annually (compared to 1-2) and perhaps most importantly,  become super duper grateful for all that life is, has been, and will be.PS-- A great follow up book to this for me was Vishen Lakhiani's Code of the Extraordinary Mind.

Miami-Dade Florida: What Are Experts Saying About the Spring Housing Market? If you’re planning to move soon, you might be wondering if there’ll be more homes to choose from, where prices and mortgage rates are headed, and how to navigate today’s market. If so, here’s what the professionals are saying about what’s in store for this season.Odeta Kushi, Deputy Chief Economist, First American:“. . . it seems our general expectation for the spring is that we will see a pickup in inventory. In fact, that already seems to be happening. But it won’t necessarily be enough to satiate demand.”Lisa Sturtevant, Chief Economist, Bright MLS:“There is still strong demand, as the large millennial population remains in the prime first-time homebuying range.”Danielle Hale, Chief Economist, Realtor.com:“W...

Are you a Republican or Are you a Democrat?  If you ask many Americans what the differences are of the two major political parties in the United States,  many say one or the other not because they actually feel that way themselves, but perhaps because of what they have heard on social media or through news outlets.   Many are for a particular party because of their families Many because of unions, or institutions of higher learning.   Many don't like a particular candidate, and vote purely on that basis.   Many don't vote at all.... and many just go along with the crowd, their friends, or whatever but they never really tried to understand the key differences of the ideologies of both of these political parties.  For the purposes of this blog post, I don’t care if you are a Democrat or a...

Where Are the Referrals? When asked why members joined ActiveRain or what they hoped to get out of the platform, REFERRALS is often at the top of the list.  Some members have suggested when they leave a comment that we send referrals to them.  So where are they? Why haven’t you been sent any referrals? Well, you see, it doesn’t work that way. Think about it…in your own IRL  town, if you were asked for a referral to a vendor, would you offer the name of a company you didn’t know anything about?  Probably not. It’s your word and your reputation on the line.  You need to know whoever you refer will provide the type of service or quality of goods that you would want and expect.  ActiveRain is a community and while the platform exists in Cyberville, we respond and interact with each other jus...

We have the ability to navigate and think our way to success; isn't being human great? Yes, especially for those who navigate well and are wellminded. The industry might soon undergo some changes. From my understanding, there might be a minor bump or two and a few logistical changes in how Co-ops are handled, but that is it. When things eventually change, in the simplest terms, co-ops will no longer be posted in the MLS, and buyers will sign a contract when working with an agent.I am going to bet that the ones that put their consumers first provide excellent service and best understand the upcoming changes in our industry will thrive as usual. After all -professionalism is at the core of success. Be professional and watch your success grow. Now is the time, YOU GUYS. Go out and be the b...

I started this post by doing a search on AR for TikTok It says there are over 300 post on here. I did read through a bit of them and found there are some that said what I had hope they would say Bytedance is the parent company of TikTok and some members here don't trust that company. What I haven't seen covered in post (there could be one didn't read all 300) is why we shouldn't use it and why it should be banned. In no particular order lets get into it. Studies have found TikTok is harmful to children.  Neuroscience is the study of the brain they have been researching the brain for decades, while they don't know everything they know a good bit.Human Brain Project this is just one example. There have been billions spent on multiple projects to study the brain (as it should have been) to u...
