When I was considering selling my house, I asked a long-time friend of our family if he could recommend a Realtor.
"Billy Crittenden", he said, without hesitation, "because he knows his stuff and really cares about his clients." He also said Billy would keep me thoroughly informed, and let me know what to expect - both positives and negatives - about the sale.
At our first meeting, Billy talked a little about his background and business philosophy, then asked about the house and my thoughts on the sale. I really felt I was active in the sale and making informed decisions.
(4) He encouraged me to consider how I would handle contingencies such as an offer that was only a little below my desired price.
(5) When hard decisions came, he would explain all the options, and the positives and negatives of choosing each one. It was clear to me that he wanted me to make informed decisions, but didn't want to steer me in a particular direction.
I know from personal experience that my friend was right: Billy knows his stuff, cares about his clients, keeps them thoroughly informed, presents both sides of the outcome of any decisions they have to make, has good suggestions about how to handle the waiting process, and truly fits the role of "friendly helper".

I was fortunate enough to select Billy Crittenden as my agent to sell my home, which sold in April, 2011. This sale went through at a time that was not considered optimum for the seller, but Billy's professionalsm and knowledge of the market enabled me to complete a very satisfactory sale of my house. The good fortune of having Billy as my agent continued as I immediately began the search for a new home. Billy's patience and knowledge again shined as I came to the realization that buying a home is much more than making the purchase. What I didn't know at the moment was....that I 'didn't know what I really wanted'!!!! Billy was diligent AND PATIENT working with me, showing me homes and helping me narrow the field so that I became sure of what I wanted, and then we waited and watched for the right property to appear. The patience paid off, and prepared me for the rodeo ride to finalize the deal... As the banks and various agencies worked at their speed through the process, the home went from a sale by the owner to a short sale, and then a bank foreclosure. Without Billy's attention and hardwork, I doubt I would have ended up with what I decided was precisely the home I wanted. He steadied my nerves and then fought through the nightmare of regulation/paperwork/and occasional incompetence of the bureaucracy. The end result was no heart attack on my part!!! and the purchase of my great new home. Not a house...a home!!!! I can't imagine buying, or selling a house without the help of a GOOD qualified agent. He was extremly helpful. I would think of no other Realtor to use in the area. He picked me up at hotel in Missoula and drove me to property I was interested in looking at. He then drove me around the entire town and showed me some othere areas that I might consider. When I decided to put an offer in on the property he recommended a property inspector who was excellent. When the inspection came back negative he did NOT try and disuade me from backing out of the contract. He has remained available since that time and answered any questions I have about the area. Could not think of a better realtor to work with.
