real estate: Houston Real Estate Could Be Bright Spot in the Housing Market Sluggish Recovery - 03/01/11 09:01 AM
It’s not news that Texas, and Houston in particular, have fared better than most of the nation during the economic turmoil of the last few years.  While Texas home prices appreciated at a healthy pace in the 2000’s, none of it approached the huge increases seen in some of the “bubble” markets around the country.  Of course, it hasn’t been pain-free, as anyone trying to sell a home in Houston can attest.  But, several reports released in recent weeks on Houston’s housing market and economic outlook are continuing to paint a rosy - alebeit cautious - picture.

real estate: Maximize Your Online Presence - 11/11/10 02:43 AM
It didn't take long to learn that dealing with an attention span of 15 seconds could kill my online business. That's what we were facing when it came to luring Web traffic to our real estate Web site. Only 15 seconds to determine if visitors liked what they saw! Tick, tock.
Through experimentation and some trial and error, I learned some important lessons about having a presence on the Internet; lessons that have earned our site the top spots on page one of the local search results for our industry keywords.
It was a no-brainer that we had to start by attracting potential … (3 comments)

real estate: Virtual Home Shopping - 06/23/10 08:44 AM
In real estate, buyers are often on the hunt for a residence that feels comforting, inviting, and well, feels like home! The search for a house can be overwhelming, and disappointments are often a frustrating and unavoidable part of home tours. However, some realtors are looking to change this process and have ventured into the business of using 3D virtual home tours to exhibit their properties. For some this may sound like a dream come true. Being able to peruse the features of a potential home from the comfort of your own couch, opening closet doors, checking updated appliances, and even virtually … (1 comments)

real estate: Get Your Yard Ready Now for the Houston Summer - 06/01/10 11:37 AM
OK, there’s no denying it - Summers can be a little tough on the landscaping for Houston homes. Most days June through mid-September are at least in the 90’s, and our proximity to the coast ensures warm, humid breezes. Houstonians have perfected the art of beating the heat, of course, and we have a myriad of ways - the backyard pool, Schlitterbahn water park, our good friend air conditioning - to keep us cool.
Our plants, on the other hand, don’t have it so easy. There’s nothing sadder than watching our flowers and shrubs, planted so lovingly in the spring, wilt and wither under the Texas … (1 comments)

As most of the country struggles during the slow economic recovery, Texas has garnered attention for how well we've been able to weather the storm. We're not totally unscathed, but with a relatively stable real estate market, no state income tax and a business-friendly environment, the Lone Star State is looking more attractive to many Americans.Almost half a million people moved to Texas from mid-2008 to mid-2009, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, with the Houston real estate market being one of the top draws. So, maybe you're considering a move to the area, but have visions of a distant Texas … (0 comments)

real estate: Calling All Self Motivated Agents ...I need advice - 02/17/10 09:38 AM
I'm a broker. Have been for around 20-years. I consider myself a fairly sharp guy who knows the real estate business pretty well. I know how to market my company and also know how to create opportunity for those who work around me. I'm self motivated, have a desire to succeed and to make money. With all that said, I wish to have real estate agents in my office who share my same desires and goals.
The problem is this ...I have spent considerable time, effort and money to build an online presence in the Houston Real Estate market (i.e the shameless backlink plug back to my … (1 comments)

real estate: Economic Indicators and Houston Real Estate - 02/05/10 01:48 AM
The U.S. economy posted surprising numbers in the final quarter of 2009. According to government results, the economy grew by 5.7 percent, which marked the fastest pace since the third quarter of 2003 and surpassed expectations of a 4.5 percent boost.
According to a recent article published by USA Today, national economic adviser Christina Romer referred to the fourth-quarter output as "truly extraordinary" and "the most positive news to date on the economy," ("Economy grows at 5.7% pace ...").
What might this news mean for both national and Houston real estate markets? Only time will tell. But in the near term, … (2 comments)

real estate: The Ugly Truth - 01/30/10 04:44 AM
It was only 3 short years ago when most people didn't pay attention to economy because we were complacent and believed the good times would just keep on rolling ("Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet" for my N'awlins friends). Heck, it wasn't even until 2008 that most of us even knew what the term "Subprime mortgage" meant. Yet, once the Subprime snowball started rolling down hill in late 2007/2008 it created an economic avalanche that had rippling effects across the entire Country ...an avalanche that we are all covered by today.
The point above is not that we were too busy boozing it up on Bourbon Street to pay attention (which I was guilty of at the … (2 comments)

real estate: Buyers Could Be Seeking Houston Real Estate Earlier Than Expected - 01/26/10 02:08 AM
While spring and summer months are normally cherished by home buyers and sellers, the impending April 30 tax credit deadline may spark demand earlier than expected. According to a recent article published by USA Today, the traditional buying season could move up in 2010 ("Springtime house hunters out early thanks to tax credit").
For those in the market to purchase Houston real estate, or Houston sub-markets like the Atascocita real estate, Clear Lake real estate, or Sugar Land real estate markets, time might be of the essence.
The spring buying season, in general, runs from March through June, per the article (www.usatoday.com). But for anyone who hopes … (1 comments)

real estate: Living At Home vs. Selling Your House - 08/24/09 08:34 AM
Are you selling your home? If so, there are several things to consider before a potential buyer comes through the door.
1) Is cleaning the home good enough? NO ...being clean does not remove the clutter. To elaborate:
We all love our "stuff" and think our stuff makes the home feel comfortable. But guess what? The potential buyers who visit your home will most likely think it is cluttered, messy, and uninviting. Buyers need to see a home in "model perfect" condition and they should be able to picture themselves living in your home. That means a minimum number of pictures of … (2 comments)
