beaches: A Better Vantage Point to See What Those Sea Turtles Were Up To Last Night

Two perpetrators apparently snuck up onto the beach several hours ago during the early morning and made a deposit. This time of year, if conditions are right, the returning turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. I don't exactly know how they're able to navigate back to the same beaches they were born at to do this although that is what they do year after year. It's usually a midnight mission and requires that our man made illumination be at a minimum before they make their way to the dry sand. On the way "up" the beach they are very wary and … (6 comments)

I have wriitten about this Clean Up before and the turnout is usually exceptional. This Flyer might make one think that there's an underlying issue with all of these sites needing your help. That isn't so and residents know that but it is what gives Collier County an edge in cleanliness. Volunteerism is alive and well here and with any luck I'll be able to participate in the Haldeman Creek area. It's the breeding ground for Snook and Tarpon plus many other fish species.
